RV camping near Jennings, Missouri
Jennings sits in north St. Louis County, minutes from I-70, I-270, and the Mississippi River crossings into Illinois. That location puts RV travelers within a short drive of downtown St. Louis attractions, Lambert International Airport, and a compact ring of campgrounds on both sides of the river. Most nearby options cater to travelers who want city access rather than a wilderness setting.
The closest full-hookup option is DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park, on the Illinois riverfront in East St. Louis with pull-through sites, 30/50-amp service, and views of the Gateway Arch. North of the metro, the St. Louis NE/I-270/Granite City KOA Journey is a long-running family-owned park with a seasonal pool, cabins, and quick highway access. Cahokia RV Parque and Safari RV Park round out the private options on the Illinois side.
For a lower-key, park-based stay, Horseshoe Lake State Park sits on roughly 3,000 acres, 1,200 of which is lake, in Madison County, Illinois, about a half-hour drive from Jennings.
Things to do near Jennings
Gateway Arch National Park, Forest Park (home to the free St. Louis Zoo, Art Museum, and Science Center), Busch Stadium, and the City Museum are all reachable within a 15 to 25-minute drive from Jennings. Families staying at the St. Louis NE/I-270/Granite City KOA Journey are close to the Chain of Rocks Bridge, a pedestrian and cycling span over the Mississippi that connects to the Route 66 corridor.
On the Illinois side, Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site preserves the largest pre-Columbian earthwork north of Mexico, and Horseshoe Lake State Park adds fishing, boating, hiking, and wildlife viewing on roughly 3,000 acres. Sports fans can walk from DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park to the casino and sportsbook, or drive a short distance across the river to Cardinals or Blues games.

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. Unplug, enjoy the time together, and make some memories. You won’t regret it!

What to expect on site
The private parks around Jennings are urban and utility-focused rather than scenic. DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park is a primarily paved surface with electricity, water, and sewer connections, with a renovated bathhouse, laundry, Wi-Fi, and access to an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, and on-site restaurants; train noise from nearby tracks is common. The St. Louis NE/I-270/Granite City KOA Journey offers a swimming pool, playground, and a jumping pillow that's especially popular with kids, plus a camp store, dog park, and a mix of shaded and open-sky pull-throughs, with a section of buddy sites for smaller RVs using 30 amps.
Horseshoe Lake State Park is primitive: 26 tent or trailer campsites with a sanitary dump station, pit toilets, and water hydrants, with fire rings and no hookups or showers.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Jennings, MO
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Jennings, MO?
Renting an RV in Jennings is one of the most affordable ways to explore the greater St. Louis area. Travel trailers near Jennings average around $100 to $150 a night, while drivable motorhomes typically run $175 to $250 a night depending on size and season. Many hosts offer 10 to 20 percent off for weekly or monthly bookings, so a 5 night trip almost always works out cheaper per night than a 2 night weekend. For the best deals, book mid week, target shoulder season (April or October), and filter by Instant Book to find hosts who price competitively. Pro tip: a cheap RV rental Jennings booking often pairs perfectly with a free day at the Gateway Arch grounds or Forest Park.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Jennings,%20MissouriDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Jennings?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Jennings. Missouri's standard Class F operator license covers personal recreational vehicle use of any size, and the state specifically exempts personal-use RVs from the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) requirement under 12 CSR 10-24.305. You'll just need to be 25 or older, hold a valid driver's license from any US state or country, and complete RVezy's quick ID verification during checkout. Visiting from overseas? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country's auto club before you fly, and you're set. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork really is.
dor.mo.gov/driver-license/What kind of protection comes with my Jennings RV rental?
You're covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Jennings, MO booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance. You choose your coverage level at checkout based on how much peace of mind you want, and each plan provides significant financial protection for damage during your trip so you can focus on cruising along the Mississippi instead of worrying about the what-ifs. Hosts don't pick this for you, you decide what fits your trip best.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Jennings RV trip?
Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy for every reservation (hosts don't), and it includes a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, your refund depends on how far out from your trip start date you cancel, and there are added protections for situations like natural disasters or severe weather, which matters in tornado-prone Missouri. You won't see a cancellation policy on the individual listing because it's handled by RVezy, not the host. If life happens, just reach out to RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options before your St. Louis area RV trip begins.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Jennings?
Absolutely, plenty of hosts welcome furry travelers. Use the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to instantly see every pet-friendly RV rental Jennings has available, then message the host with your dog's size and breed to confirm. Once you're rolling, your pup will love Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park (about 20 minutes west), the off-leash area at Forest Park's Dogtown, and the dog-friendly trails at Castlewood State Park. Missouri state parks also welcome leashed pets at campsites, with a recommended max of two dogs per site. Pro tip: ask your host about pet fees up front so there are no surprises at pickup.
mostateparks.com/activity/campingCan a host deliver the RV to my campground or driveway in Jennings?
Yes, and it's the easiest way to start your trip. Many Jennings area hosts offer RV delivery directly to your campground, driveway, or even to Lambert St. Louis International Airport if you're flying in. They'll level the RV, hook up water and power, and give you a full walkthrough so you never have to drive the rig yourself. Use the Delivery filter to find hosts who offer this, then message them with your destination (Pin Oak Creek RV Park, St. Louis RV Park, or Sundermeier RV Park in St. Charles are popular drop spots). Delivery fees are set per mile by the host, and it's a game-changer for first time renting an RV.
rvezy.com/How far can I drive from Jennings, and how does mileage work?
You've got serious road trip range from Jennings. Each host sets their own mileage policy (typically 100 to 150 free miles per night), and many list RV rentals with unlimited mileage for longer trips. Popular drives from Jennings include Lake of the Ozarks (about 180 miles southwest), Branson (240 miles), Mark Twain National Forest (140 miles south), Memphis, Tennessee (290 miles), and Chicago (300 miles northeast). Check the listing's mileage section before booking, and if you're planning a big loop, ask the host about a custom mileage package, most are happy to add miles for a small per-mile fee that's cheaper than upgrading the listing.
modot.org/Where should I camp when renting an RV in Jennings?
You're spoiled for choice within an hour of Jennings. St. Louis RV Park sits just a few miles south in downtown St. Louis with full hookups and walking distance to the trolley. Sundermeier RV Park in St. Charles (about 25 minutes northwest) is a Good Sam favorite on the Missouri River. Pin Oak Creek RV Park in Villa Ridge gives you a quieter wooded setting near Six Flags, and Cuivre River State Park (45 minutes north in Troy) offers electric sites in a forested state park setting. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Eureka is the family pick. Pro tip: book Missouri state park sites through the official MoStateParks reservation system up to six months ahead.
mostateparks.com/find-a-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Jennings?
Fall is the secret weapon here. Mid-September through late October brings highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s, low humidity, vibrant Ozark foliage, and far fewer crowds at campgrounds, perfect conditions for RV camping Jennings travelers rave about. Spring (mid-April through May) is the second-best window with mild temps in the 60s and 70s, though it's the rainiest stretch and tornado season peaks in April and May. Summer gets hot and muggy with July highs averaging 89°F and humidity that can make AC a must. Winters are cold (January highs around 41°F) but doable with the right rig. Book fall trips 6 to 8 weeks ahead, foliage weekends fill up fast.
weather.gov/lsx/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay?
You'll feel confident faster than you think. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup that covers driving, leveling, hookups, the generator, slide-outs, and dumping tanks, no one hands you keys and walks away. For first time renting an RV in the St. Louis metro, Class C motorhomes and travel trailers under 25 feet are the sweet spot: easy to maneuver and comfortable to sleep four to six. Avoid driving downtown St. Louis where height clearances on Memorial Drive and the Poplar Street Bridge area can be tight; instead, have the host deliver to your campground. Pro tip: practice a few turns in an empty lot near Jennings before hitting the highway.
modot.org/travelers-informationWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You're never on your own. Every Jennings RV rental booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection package, covering tire issues, lockouts, jump-starts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. If something goes sideways at midnight on I-44 near Eureka or I-70 outside Wentzville, one phone call dispatches help. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app for quick questions like 'how do I reset the generator?' and RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after every trip. Save the roadside number to your phone before you pull out of the driveway and you'll cruise with confidence.
modot.org/travelers-informationCan I take my RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most listings, which is great because Jennings sits at the crossroads of I-70, I-55, I-64, and I-44. Popular RV road trips from Jennings include Memphis (290 miles south on I-55), Nashville (310 miles southeast), Chicago (300 miles northeast on I-55), and Kansas City (250 miles west on I-70). Cross-border travel to Canada is allowed on many listings but requires host approval and insurance confirmation, just message the host before booking. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. Always confirm your route with your host so they can adjust the mileage package if needed.
modot.org/travelers-informationHow much should I budget for fuel on a Jennings RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, so let's get specific. Missouri's statewide gas average has recently hovered around $4.14 a gallon according to AAA, and diesel runs roughly 30 to 50 cents higher. Class C motorhomes get 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG), Class A's get 6 to 9 MPG, campervans hit 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 9 to 13 MPG combined). For a 500-mile loop to Lake of the Ozarks and back from Jennings in a Class C, expect roughly $200 to $250 in gas. Save by filling up at Costco or Sam's Club in Bridgeton, both are a quick hop from Jennings off I-270.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=MOHow far ahead should I book a campsite near Jennings?
Earlier is always better, especially for the good spots. Missouri State Parks open reservations up to six months in advance through the official MoStateParks system, and popular sites at Babler, Cuivre River, and Robertsville State Park book out fast for summer weekends and fall foliage. Private parks like Sundermeier RV Park and Pin Oak Creek RV Park typically need 4 to 6 weeks lead time in peak season (June through August), while shoulder months (April, May, September, October) usually have availability with 2 to 3 weeks notice. Pro tip: holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day) sell out 3 to 4 months ahead near St. Louis, so set a reminder and pounce when the window opens.
mostateparks.com/activity/campingWhat's driving an RV around Jennings actually like?
Easier than you'd expect with a little planning. Jennings sits just north of downtown St. Louis off I-70 and I-270, so you've got wide interstate access in every direction without fighting downtown traffic. Avoid Memorial Drive's lower deck near the Arch (low clearance), Forest Park Parkway tunnels, and the older bridges in north St. Louis with smaller rigs only. Watch for summer thunderstorms that can drop visibility fast, and Missouri sits in Tornado Alley with peak activity April through June, so check the NWS St. Louis forecast each morning. The terrain is gently rolling, no mountain passes, making this a forgiving region for new RV drivers.
weather.gov/lsx/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Jennings?
You'll find a full range of options within 30 minutes. Most established parks like Sundermeier RV Park, St. Louis RV Park, and Pin Oak Creek RV Park offer full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), free WiFi, hot showers, laundry, and dump stations. Missouri State Parks (Cuivre River, Babler, Robertsville) provide electric hookups year-round and water plus hot showers from April 1 through October 31. For dumping mid-trip without a reservation, many private parks offer dump-only access for $10 to $20. Fresh water fills are widely available at the same dump stations. Pro tip: stock up at the Walmart Supercenter in Florissant, just 10 minutes from Jennings, before heading to your campsite.
mostateparks.com/activity/campingWhat's actually inside the RVs available in Jennings?
More than you'd expect from a vehicle. Most motorhome rental Jennings options include a real bed (queen or king), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, dining seating with seatbelts, air conditioning, a furnace, a TV, and a generator for off-grid power. Campervan rental Jennings options (Class B) are more compact but cleverly designed, often with a convertible bed, small kitchenette, and wet bath. Travel trailers and Class C's typically sleep 4 to 8 thanks to bunks and convertible dinettes. WiFi varies, some hosts include a hotspot, others recommend you bring your own. Check the listing's amenities checklist for exact details on the rig you're eyeing.
rvezy.com/What add-ons and pickup logistics should I expect?
Hosts in Jennings make trips easy with optional extras. Common add-ons include kitchen kits (dishes, pots, utensils) for $25 to $50, bedding and linen packs for $15 to $30 per person, generators, propane refills, bike racks, camping chairs, and outdoor grills. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on, fees usually run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's location. Pickup is typically at the host's home or a meetup spot near I-70 or I-270, and walkthroughs take 30 to 45 minutes. Most hosts ask for a 10 a.m. to noon pickup window and a 10 a.m. drop-off. Pro tip: ask about a free late checkout if you're returning on a weekday.
rvezy.com/How does payment and the security deposit work?
It's simple and fully online. When you book your RV rental in Missouri, RVezy charges your card for the rental total (rental rate, delivery, add-ons, protection, taxes, and service fee) all at once through a secure payment system, no cash or checks exchanged with the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately and released after your trip ends, typically within 7 days, assuming the RV comes back in the same condition. To avoid deposit issues, take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, follow the host's dumping and cleaning instructions, and refuel to the level shown at pickup. Pro tip: keep gas receipts handy in case there's any question on the fuel level.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park overnight if I'm not at a campground?
You've got options around Jennings beyond traditional campgrounds. Missouri is one of the more RV-friendly states, overnight RV parking is permitted at official Missouri Department of Transportation rest areas along I-70, I-55, and I-44 (no slides out, no awnings, no camping behavior). Many Cracker Barrel and Walmart Supercenter locations in the St. Louis metro allow free overnight stays with manager permission, including the Walmart in Florissant just minutes from Jennings. Casino lots like Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights also welcome RVs in designated areas. For true camping, head to a campground. Avoid parking overnight on residential streets in the City of St. Louis, where ordinance restrictions apply.
