Campgrounds and RV parks near Linn, MO

The Osage and Maries rivers support fishing, paddling, and boat-ramp access. Jefferson City, a short drive west, has the Missouri State Capitol, the historic Missouri State Penitentiary, and Runge Nature Center. Katy Trail State Park, one of the longest rail-to-trail routes in the country, runs along the Missouri River bluffs and is easily reached for cycling and walking day trips. Graham Cave State Park adds a distinct draw: the shelter cave was the first archaeological site in the United States designated a National Historic Landmark, and short trails lead toward the cave mouth, the Loutre River, and glade overlooks. A fence protects the cave interior, so visitors view it from the entrance. Wineries around Hermann lie within an hour of Linn for a half-day loop.

Central Missouri has four clear seasons and sits on the boundary between humid continental and humid subtropical climates. Summers are hot and humid with frequent thunderstorms, and winters are cold with regular but modest snowfall. Spring brings the heaviest rain and the greatest chance of river rises on the Osage, Maries, and Loutre, so low-lying riverside sites can flood after storms. Late spring through early fall is peak camping season. Summer weekends fill quickly at Lost Valley Lake Resort and Graham Cave State Park, and holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day should be booked well ahead. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color through October, and is often the most comfortable stretch for RV travel. Winter camping is possible but stripped down. During the off-season from November through March, all sites at Graham Cave State Park are first-come, first-served, and campers should bring their own potable water. Private resorts stay open with heated facilities.

Expect a mix of gravel and paved pads, shaded wooded sites, and river or lakeside settings. Mari-Osa Campground offers 28 sites with water, electric, and sewer plus 3 sites with water and electric, along with a boat ramp and on-site fishing at the confluence of the Osage and Maries rivers. Graham Cave has 34 basic campsites and 18 electric sites open all year, with pads ranging from 33 to 62 feet; some spots are not level, so leveling blocks help. A dump station and hot showers are available during the on-season from April through October. Lost Valley Lake Resort is a full-service destination with a lake, pools, and full-hookup RV sites. Cell coverage is reliable near Jefferson City but can drop in wooded valleys. Ticks and chiggers are common on trails in summer.
