Campgrounds near Marlborough, Missouri
Marlborough is a small village in south St. Louis County, Missouri, sitting along Historic Route 66 (Watson Road) about eleven to twelve miles southwest of downtown St. Louis and a short hop from Interstate 44. The village itself is compact and primarily residential, so RV travelers use it as a base for exploring the wider St. Louis metro on both sides of the Mississippi River.
There are no campgrounds inside Marlborough's tight village boundary, but several RV parks sit within a short drive. Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage and Safari RV Park are convenient Missouri-side options, while Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates, Cahokia RV Parque, and DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park are across the river on the Illinois side, close to downtown attractions like the Gateway Arch.
From this base, RVers can reach Missouri state parks such as Castlewood, Babler, and Meramec within an hour, plus float-trip rivers, cave tours, and the Mark Twain National Forest to the southwest.
Things to do near Marlborough
Downtown St. Louis is the main draw: the Gateway Arch, the free Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park, the Saint Louis Science Center, the City Museum, and Busch Stadium are all inside a twenty-minute drive. Families staying at DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park can walk or ride the MetroLink light rail straight across the river to the Arch grounds.
Outdoor days pull travelers south and west. The Meramec, Big, and Huzzah rivers offer canoeing, fishing, and float trips, and Onondaga Cave State Park runs guided cave tours along the Meramec. Castlewood, Babler, and Cuivre River state parks add hiking and swimming, while Mark Twain National Forest sits southwest of the city with trails and dispersed camping.

The St. Louis area has four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms and highs regularly in the upper 80s and 90s Fahrenheit. Highs of 90 degrees or more are common from June through August, and heat indices can climb well past 100 on the muggiest days. Sites at metro RV parks fill fastest around Independence Day, Cardinals home stands, and Labor Day weekend.
Spring and fall are the sweet spots for RV travel. Mid-April through mid-May and mid-September through mid-October bring mild temperatures, lower humidity, and fall color along the river bluffs. Spring is the wettest and most unstable season, and the St. Louis metro sits on the eastern edge of Tornado Alley, so travelers should monitor severe weather watches, especially from March through June.
Winters are cold, with January averaging near freezing and occasional snow or ice. Many private RV parks in the metro stay open year-round, but some state park loops close or reduce services from late fall through early spring.

We had a great time renting this camper! Ray was awesome to work with. He went over everything with us when we picked it up and was always quick to respond if we had any questions. The camper was really clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. It was great to get away with the family annd enjoy some time together without having to worry about anything. We had an awesome weekend, made some great memories, and will definitely be renting from Ray again! Do yourself a favor and take your family camping for a few days too. Unplug, enjoy the time together, and make some memories. You won’t regret it!

How to book campgrounds near Marlborough
Private RV parks near Marlborough, including Covered Bridge RV Park and Storage, Safari RV Park, Belleville Mobile Home and RV Estates, Cahokia RV Parque, and DraftKings at Casino Queen RV Park, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and Cardinals game nights, booking two to four months ahead is prudent.
Missouri state parks use the icampmo.com reservation system, which opens campsite bookings up to twelve months in advance and also accepts same-day reservations until 7 p.m. the day of arrival. A two-night minimum, Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday, applies to weekend reservations at several popular Missouri parks. Illinois state parks across the river use Reserve America. Federal campgrounds in Mark Twain National Forest and at Army Corps lakes book through Recreation.gov, generally on a rolling six-month window.
What to expect
Marlborough itself is a quiet residential village bisected by Watson Road, with grocery stores, chain restaurants, and gas stations lined along the old Route 66 corridor. Cell service and fuel are easy to find, and Interstates 44, 55, 64, and 70 all converge in the metro, making it straightforward to reposition an RV.
Campgrounds close to the city tend to be practical, paved-pad parks aimed at travelers passing through or attending games and concerts; wooded, scenic sites are found farther out in the Missouri and Illinois state park systems. Expect full hookups at most private parks, gravel or grass sites at state parks, and limited big-rig pull-throughs at older properties.
Summer humidity, mosquitoes near the rivers, and occasional severe thunderstorms are the main things to plan around. A weather radio and awning tie-downs are worth packing.
