Chinook sits along U.S. Highway 2 in Blaine County on the northern Montana plains, roughly 20 miles east of Havre and about 40 miles south of the Canadian border. The town is best known as the closest community to Bear Paw Battlefield, the final site of the 1877 Nez Perce War and part of Nez Perce National Historical Park.
