Campgrounds and RV parks near Bridgeport, NE

Bridgeport sits in Nebraska's Panhandle along the North Platte River, at the crossroads of U.S. Highway 26 and Highway 92. The town is a practical base for exploring Oregon Trail landmarks, with Chimney Rock, Courthouse and Jail Rocks, and Scotts Bluff National Monument all within a short drive. RV travelers use it as an overnight stop between Denver, the Black Hills, and Yellowstone routes. Bridgeport State Recreation Area, on the west edge of town, is the closest option. It surrounds five sandpit lakes and offers primitive, first-come, first-served camping with a dump and fill station, drinking water at the swim beach, and pit restrooms. Chimney Rock Pioneer Crossing, roughly 12 miles west near Bayard, is a small private RV park with full-hookup pull-through sites facing the Chimney Rock formation. About 40 miles northwest, Lake Minatare State Recreation Area is the Panhandle's largest reservoir and offers a wider mix of sites, including electric hookups at Butte View - Lake Minatare State Recreation Area and lake-access sites at South Gate - Lake Minatare State Recreation Area and Scouts Rest - Lake Minatare State Recreation Area. Nebraska state park campgrounds use two systems.
