Visitors must also display a valid vehicle pass. Rocky Mountain National Park campgrounds are booked through Recreation.gov. A separate timed-entry reservation is also required to enter the park during peak hours from late May through mid-October, released monthly on Recreation.gov starting May 1 for the following month. Private parks such as Loveland RV Resort, Falcons Landing RV Park, RV Retreat at Johnson's Corner, and Riverview RV Park and Campground book directly through their own websites or by phone. Weekends and holidays sell out first in summer, so lock in dates as far ahead as possible.

What to expect on-site

Boyd Lake sites are mostly open and lakeside, with limited shade. The campground offers 148 paved pull-through sites with 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric hookups, and each site has a picnic table and grill or fire ring. The park has three restroom buildings with showers, laundry facilities, a dump station, playgrounds, and horseshoe pits. There are no water or sewer hookups at individual sites, so fill freshwater tanks on arrival, and site length maxes out around 40 feet. Private parks in the area lean toward full-hookup pull-throughs suited to larger rigs, with standard amenities such as laundry, showers, Wi-Fi, and a dump station. Bring layers for cool nights even in summer, watch for fire restrictions during dry stretches, and keep food secured. Black bears range through the foothills west of town.
