Battle Mountain sits on Interstate 80 in Lander County, Nevada, roughly halfway between Winnemucca and Elko. The town lies at the confluence of the Humboldt and Reese rivers, in the Humboldt valley between the Shoshone Range to the southeast, the Battle Mountains to the southwest and the Sheep Creek Range across the Humboldt to the north. The setting is high-desert sagebrush country, and the town functions mainly as a fuel, supply, and overnight stop for I-80 travellers. RV options in town are limited but practical.
