Campgrounds and RV parks near Caliente, NV

Caliente sits in Lincoln County along U.S. Route 93 in southeastern Nevada, tucked into a canyon on the Meadow Valley Wash. The town is a small railroad community that serves as a practical base for exploring a cluster of state parks and BLM lands within a short drive. RV travelers use it as a stopover between Las Vegas and Great Basin National Park, or as a jumping-off point for the Extraterrestrial Highway and Zion National Park. Camping options range from full-hookup private RV parks in town to state park campgrounds set in dramatic canyon and reservoir landscapes. Young's RV Park and Roll Inn RV Park handle rigs needing power, water, and sewer, while Kershaw-Ryan State Park has a 16-unit campground with a restroom, coin-operated showers, an RV dump station, shade ramadas, picnic tables, fire rings, grills, and 30 amp and 50 amp power and water hookups at each site. North of town, Cathedral Gorge State Park sits in a long, narrow valley in southeastern Nevada, where erosion has carved dramatic and unique patterns in the soft bentonite clay, and Echo Canyon State Park adds a reservoir-side option roughly an hour away.

Nevada State Parks in the area use a mixed system. Reservations for Kershaw-Ryan and Echo Canyon can be booked through reservenevada.com. The Nevada State Park reservation system will not let you reserve less than 72 hours ahead, so short-notice arrivals rely on any first-come, first-served sites at the gate. At Echo Canyon, the North Campground has 33 campsites available for reservation, and sites without a reservation the day of arrival are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cathedral Gorge State Park Campground operates largely on a first-come, first-served basis, and on arrival campers fill out a form that goes on the vehicle dashboard for the duration of the stay. Private options like Young's RV Park and Roll Inn RV Park take direct bookings by phone. Book holiday weekends and shoulder-season Fridays several weeks out.
