Campgrounds near Anthony, New Mexico
Anthony sits on the New Mexico-Texas line along the Rio Grande, roughly 20 miles north of downtown El Paso and 25 miles south of Las Cruces. The town's position on the I-10 corridor puts RV travelers within easy reach of privately operated parks on both sides of the state line, plus one large public land option in the Franklin Mountains. Elevations sit near 3,800 to 4,200 feet, which keeps winters milder than higher-desert destinations to the north.
Most nearby options are full-hookup commercial parks aimed at long-haul and snowbird traffic. El Paso West RV Park is close to the Anthony area with pull-through sites and big-rig access just off I-10. Road Host RV Monthly Extended Stay in El Paso serves longer-term guests, while Gaslight Square Mobile Home and RV Park offers another year-round option on the El Paso side.
For a public-land experience, Franklin Mountains State Park is the largest state park in an urban setting, protecting 37 square miles of desert wilderness with 125 miles of multi-use trails. Hacienda RV Resort in Las Cruces rounds out the list with resort-style amenities for travelers willing to drive north up the valley.
Things to do near Anthony
Hiking and mountain biking dominate outdoor recreation in the area. Franklin Mountains State Park offers 125 miles of multi-use trails that are especially popular with mountain bikers, threading across rugged Chihuahuan Desert terrain inside El Paso city limits. Rock climbing is permitted at the designated area in McKelligon Canyon or at Sneed's Cory in the Tom Mays Unit.
Day trips are the main reason RV travelers base out of Anthony. White Sands National Park sits about 90 minutes northeast, with gypsum dunes open to hiking and sledding. Historic Old Mesilla, with its adobe architecture and shops, is under 30 miles up the valley. The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces is a solid rainy-day stop for families.

Thunderstorm activity peaks during July and August as the North American Monsoon delivers most of the year's rainfall.

How to book campgrounds near Anthony

El Paso West RV Park, Road Host RV Monthly Extended Stay in El Paso, Gaslight Square Mobile Home and RV Park, and Hacienda RV Resort all run their own reservation channels. Snowbird months from November through March book earliest, sometimes months in advance for monthly stays.

All campsites are located at the Tom Mays Unit, with 14 walk-in tent sites, five drive-in RV sites, and group camp options. The park often reaches capacity and reservations are highly recommended for both camping and day use.
What to expect on-site near Anthony

El Paso West RV Park caters to travelers passing through on I-10 with full-hookup pull-throughs and stays open year-round.
Expectations shift sharply at Franklin Mountains State Park. Campsites do not have water or electricity, so bring enough water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. weather.gov/epz/I've never driven an RV before, is renting in Anthony, NM beginner-friendly?
Anthony is one of the friendliest places in the Southwest for first time renting an RV. The terrain is flat, Interstate 10 has wide shoulders, and back roads through the pecan orchards and chile fields are low-traffic, exactly what you want while you get comfortable behind the wheel. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering propane, slide-outs, leveling, and the dump valves, and you can text them during your trip with questions. If parallel parking a 28-footer sounds stressful, book a travel trailer that the host delivers and sets up for you. Pro tip: take a practice loop on NM-478 toward La Mesa before tackling the I-10 on-ramp.
dot.nm.gov/What happens if the RV breaks down during my Anthony, NM trip?
You're covered: every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on US-54 or a dead battery at Oliver Lee State Park is just a phone call away from help. The roadside team can dispatch tire service, jump starts, fuel delivery, and towing across southern New Mexico and west Texas, and your host is also a text away to walk you through anything mechanical or appliance-related. Cell coverage is solid along I-10 and through Las Cruces, though it can get spotty deep in the Organ Mountains or out toward White Sands Missile Range. Pro tip: download offline maps and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate at pickup so dispatch info is one tap away.

Popular US routes from Anthony include Big Bend National Park (about 5 hours southeast), Tucson and Saguaro National Park (about 5 hours west), and Santa Fe (about 4.5 hours north).
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on an Anthony, NM RV trip?
Fuel is part of the adventure, but it's predictable. Class C motorhomes in the Anthony area average 8 to 10 miles per gallon, campervans 16 to 20, and a truck towing a travel trailer about 10 to 14. Gas in Anthony and across Doña Ana County tends to run 15 to 30 cents cheaper than El Paso just across the line, so top off on the New Mexico side before heading out. For a 4-night trip covering 400 miles in a Class C, budget roughly $150 to $200 in fuel at current southern New Mexico prices. Pro tip: the Love's Travel Stop at exit 162 in Anthony has easy big-rig access and a dump station for a small fee.

Private RV parks in Las Cruces such as Hacienda RV Resort and Sunny Acres usually have availability a week or two out, except during the Hatch Chile Festival. Pro tip: midweek nights almost always have openings, even at the most popular spots, build your itinerary around Tuesday-through-Thursday camping.
newmexicostateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around Anthony, NM?
Driving an RV around Anthony is genuinely easy compared to most US destinations. The terrain is flat desert valley, I-10 is well-maintained, and traffic only thickens near El Paso during rush hour (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.). Watch for two local quirks: spring dust storms (March to May) can drop visibility fast on I-10, so pull off at the next exit if you see a brown wall ahead, and summer monsoon downpours in July and August can flood low spots, never drive through standing water on arroyo crossings. The climb up US-70 toward the Organ Mountains and San Augustin Pass is gentle but steady. Pro tip: check NMRoads.com before any long drive for real-time dust and weather alerts.
nmroads.com/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Anthony, NM?

Leasburg Dam State Park has 31 developed sites with electric and water plus a centrally located dump station, while Aguirre Spring is dry camping only (bring full freshwater tanks and plan to dump on the way out). The Love's Travel Stop in Anthony has potable water and a public dump station. Pro tip: fill freshwater at Leasburg or Hacienda before heading into the Organ Mountains or White Sands area, where potable water is limited.

Many hosts include a generator, outdoor awning, and outdoor camp chairs. Seatbelts for travel-day passengers are clearly noted in each listing. Class B campervan rental Anthony options are more compact but include solar, fridge, sink, and a comfy bed.
