Overview of campgrounds near Keeler Farm
Keeler Farm is a small census-designated place in Luna County, New Mexico, sitting just outside Deming in the Chihuahuan Desert at roughly 4,300 feet of elevation. The area serves as a low-key basecamp for RV travelers moving along Interstate 10 between Las Cruces and Lordsburg, with the Mexican border about 30 miles south and Silver City about an hour north.
RV parks cluster around Deming and the surrounding farmland. Desert Vista RV Village, Little Vineyard RV Park and Resort, Dreamcatcher RV Park, Stagecoach RV Ranch, and Low-Hi RV Ranch all sit within easy driving range and cater primarily to full-hookup travelers, long-haul stopovers, and winter snowbirds. Most parks offer 30 and 50 amp service, laundry, showers, and pull-through sites suited to larger rigs.
For state-park camping, two options anchor the region: Rockhound State Park south of Deming in the Little Florida Mountains, and City of Rocks State Park to the north via US-180. Both handle campsite reservations through the New Mexico State Parks reservation system.
Things to do near Keeler Farm
Rock collecting is the signature local activity. Rockhound State Park allows visitors to collect up to 15 pounds of rocks and minerals per person, with jasper, agate, geodes, thunder eggs, perlite, and quartz crystals among the finds across its 1,100 acres. Trails climb into the Little Florida Mountains for panoramic desert views, and the separate Spring Canyon unit offers quieter hiking and picnicking as a day-use area.
City of Rocks State Park, roughly 30 miles north, features tall volcanic rock pinnacles, a small observatory, and campsites tucked among the boulders. Hikers can wander the interpretive loops or push up nearby Table Mountain for a longer climb.
Closer to town, the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, local wineries, and day trips south to Columbus and the Palomas border crossing round out a typical itinerary.

Reserve well ahead during this stretch, especially for monthly stays at private parks.
Spring brings warming temperatures and some of the driest months of the year, but late winter and spring also carry moderate to strong winds that can kick up blowing dust. Wildflowers and cactus blooms in the Little Floridas typically peak in late spring.
Summers are hot, with June highs commonly in the low to mid 90s. The North American Monsoon can start in late June and extend into September, delivering most of the year's rainfall as afternoon thunderstorms. How to book campgrounds near Keeler Farm
Private RV parks around Deming, including Desert Vista RV Village, Little Vineyard RV Park and Resort, Dreamcatcher RV Park, Stagecoach RV Ranch, and Low-Hi RV Ranch, generally accept reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Sites at private parks tend to be gravel, level, and set up for pull-through rigs. Rockhound offers large gravel sites with covered picnic tables, fire rings, and a bathhouse with hot showers; full hookup sites can accommodate rigs up to 50 feet. City of Rocks has a mix of developed and primitive sites tucked among boulder formations.
Fire restrictions are common in dry months, so check current park alerts before arrival.
