Camping near Nambe, New Mexico
Nambe sits in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains north of Santa Fe, at roughly 6,900 feet elevation. The village is home to the Pueblo of Nambé, one of six Tewa-speaking pueblos of Northern New Mexico, and the tribe operates a high desert landscape that includes a waterfall, a reservoir, and a seasonal campground.
RV travelers use Nambe as a quieter alternative to camping directly in Santa Fe. Nambe Falls Recreational Area - Nambe Pueblo offers rustic sites on Pueblo land, while Hyde Memorial State Park sits higher in the mountains toward the Santa Fe Ski Basin. Closer to the city, The Trailer Ranch RV Resort (55+), Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park Campground, and HIPICO Santa Fe provide full-hookup or event-based parking within a short drive.
Most travelers combine a night or two on Pueblo or forest land with additional nights closer to Santa Fe restaurants, museums, and grocery stops. The Santa Fe Plaza is roughly a 20 to 30 minute drive from the village.
Things to do near Nambe
The main attraction is Nambe Falls itself. Two trails, each about a quarter mile, lead to the waterfalls from the Ramada Area. One trail climbs the hill ending in a view of the waterfalls from above, while the other trail goes along and through the river to a beach area at the lowest pool. Expect uneven rock, loose dirt, stream crossings, and wet footing on the lower route. Water levels change by season, and water shoes are recommended. The reservoir above the dam is open to fishing and paddling, with fishing poles, fishing tackle, and watercraft including rafts, paddle boards, float tubes, canoes, and one and two person kayaks available to rent.
Higher up, Hyde Memorial has 4.2 miles of hiking trails, a playground, and a visitor center. Santa Fe's plaza, museums, and Canyon Road galleries are within a 20 to 30 minute drive.

July and August are the North American Monsoon months in New Mexico: mornings are usually clear, but afternoon thunderstorms with lightning and brief heavy rain are the norm. Plan hikes and paddling for the morning.

Lorenzo was awesome to work with. The RV was perfect for our needs and I would definitely boom again.

Lorenzo was awesome to work with! A huge storm blew in the afternoon of delivery and washed out some of our dirt roads, so getting through was no small thing. I honestly figured it might be impossible to get the camper here, and I would’ve totally understood if they’d had to reschedule. But they just worked through it and got it done without missing a beat. Really appreciated how flexible and easygoing they were about the whole thing. Thanks again, Lorenzo, for making it happen!

Bruno was a fantastic host. He was incredibly on time with drop off and pick up. He was so helpful with showing us how everything works inside the trailer. The trailers itself was very clean and just the perfect amount of space for us. Thank you again Bruno! We have the best time. -Cameron & Brooke

How to book campgrounds near Nambe
Nambe Falls Recreational Area is managed by the Pueblo of Nambé directly. For campsite reservations, group sales and special events, and information call (505) 455-2304. There is a day-use and camping fee, and the site is on tribal land, so Pueblo rules apply on arrival.
Hyde Memorial State Park uses the New Mexico State Parks reservation system on ReserveAmerica. Reservations can be made for today and can be made up to 6 months in advance, though a portion of sites remains first-come, first-served. Private parks near Santa Fe, including The Trailer Ranch RV Resort (55+) and Los Suenos de Santa Fe RV Park Campground, book directly through their own websites or by phone, and HIPICO Santa Fe primarily offers RV parking tied to equestrian events.
What to expect on the ground
Elevation matters here. Elevations at the park range from 8,300 feet to 9,400 feet, so expect cool to cold nighttime temperatures, even in summer. Nambe village sits lower but still around 6,900 feet, so hydrate, take grades slowly with a loaded RV, and expect strong sun.
Facilities are basic at the public sites. There is no dump station at Nambe Falls, so be sure your tanks can hold your stay until you can get to a dump station. At Hyde Memorial, water availability at the office can be unreliable, so campers should bring an adequate supply, and a dump station is located near the park entrance.
Bears are active in the area, so store food and trash securely. Cell coverage is spotty on Pueblo land and in the canyon.
