The Plaza anchors downtown, with the Palace of the Governors, Canyon Road galleries, and the New Mexico History Museum within walking distance. Meow Wolf's House of Eternal Return is a popular family stop on the south side of town. Day trips reach Bandelier National Monument, Tent Rocks, Pecos National Historical Park, and Taos within about an hour. Outdoor time centers on the Santa Fe National Forest. Hyde Memorial State Park has about 4.2 miles of hiking trails inside the park and connects to a larger trail network that runs into the national forest and toward the Pecos Wilderness. Winter visitors use the same corridor for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, with Ski Santa Fe a few miles farther up NM-475.

Late spring through fall is the main RV window. Summer days typically run in the 80s with cool evenings thanks to elevation, and the North American Monsoon brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms from roughly mid-June through September. Storms build fast, drop heavy rain, and can trigger flash flooding in arroyos and burn-scar areas, so plan hikes and drives for the morning and monitor National Weather Service alerts. Elevation is the biggest surprise for first-time visitors. At 7,000 feet in town and higher in the mountains, sun is intense, humidity is low, and altitude can cause fatigue for the first day or two. Private parks around Santa Fe generally offer full hookups, laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi, with pull-through sites at the larger properties. Big-rig access, 30/50-amp service, and dump stations are standard at the commercial parks. Hyde Memorial State Park is more rustic, with vault toilets, no potable water at sites, and only seven electric sites for RVs. Roads into town are RV-friendly on I-25 and US-285, but the Plaza and Canyon Road are tight for larger motorhomes.
