Campgrounds and RV parks near San Felipe Pueblo, NM

The Feast Day of San Felipe on May 1 is the pueblo's most notable public event, when community members participate in the traditional Green Corn Dance in the village plaza. An annual arts and crafts show is held in October, featuring pottery, silverwork, and embroidery from pueblo artists. Nearby, Coronado Historic Site preserves the ruins of Kuaua Pueblo along the Rio Grande and pairs naturally with a stay at the adjacent Coronado Campground. Kewa (Santo Domingo) Pueblo lies just north and is known for turquoise and heishi jewelry. For day trips, the Sandia Peak Aerial Tram, Sandia Peak Ski Area, and art galleries in Madrid are all within easy reach along the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway. Old Town Albuquerque, the Santa Fe Plaza, and Petroglyph National Monument round out the options.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in this corner of New Mexico. Daytime temperatures are mild, overnight lows are comfortable, and precipitation stays low. Late April and early May draw visitors around the Feast Day of San Felipe, while October brings the pueblo's arts and crafts show and cooler high-desert weather ideal for hiking. Summer is peak season for campgrounds along the Rio Grande and in the Sandias. July and August bring the North American Monsoon, and afternoon thunderstorms are routine. Higher-elevation sites at Cedar Crest run noticeably cooler than the valley floor, which matters when the Albuquerque area pushes into the 90s Fahrenheit. Winters are cold but generally dry at valley elevations. At Coronado Campground the RV section is open year-round, while the tent section is open March through November 1st. Mountain campgrounds may see snow and reduced services, so travelers heading to the Sandias in winter should confirm road and site conditions before arrival.

Expect high-desert conditions. Valley campgrounds near Bernalillo sit around 5,000 feet in elevation, while Cedar Crest sites are much higher: Turquoise Trail Campground & RV Park lists an elevation near 7,200 feet. Bring layers for cool nights even in summer, and expect strong sun during the day. Amenities vary by park. Coronado Campground provides toilet facilities, hot showers, and an RV dump station, with covered adobe picnic shelters at individual sites but no in-site sewer hookups. Turquoise Trail Campground & RV Park offers full-hookup RV sites with 20/30/50 amp service, tent sites, cabins, bathrooms and showers, laundry, a dump station, a playground, and WiFi. Cell coverage is generally solid along the I-25 corridor and weaker in the Sandia foothills. Respect posted rules if driving through San Felipe Pueblo land itself; photography and off-road access are restricted.
