Campgrounds and RV parks near Fredonia, NY

Fredonia sits in Chautauqua County in far western New York, minutes from the Lake Erie shoreline and roughly an hour southwest of Buffalo. The area combines Great Lakes beach access, the Chautauqua Wine Trail, and Chautauqua Lake to the south, giving RV travellers a compact base for touring wineries, state parks, and small lakeside towns. The closest public campground is Lake Erie State Park, a 355-acre park on the high bluffs between Dunkirk and Westfield with 99 campsites and 10 cabins. Firemans Fraternity Campground and Blue Water Beach Campground offer additional lakeside options within a short drive. Farther south, Chautauqua Lake KOA Holiday spans nearly 200 acres overlooking Chautauqua Lake, and Westfield / Lake Erie KOA Journey sits near the Pennsylvania line. Most sites in the region mix tent and RV camping, with electric hookups common at state and private parks. Full hookups and larger pull-throughs are concentrated at the KOA properties, making them the easier fit for bigger rigs and first-time renters.

Lake Erie State Park is reserved through the New York State Parks system on ReserveAmerica, online or by phone. The booking window opens up to nine months in advance, campsites require a two-night minimum, and same-day reservations are allowed on campsites until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival. Walk-ins are permitted for campsites only, and cabins are rented Saturday to Saturday during the peak summer weeks. Chautauqua Lake KOA Holiday and Westfield / Lake Erie KOA Journey book directly through KOA.com or the KOA app. Holidays and special-event weekends generally require payment in full and are non-refundable. Firemans Fraternity Campground and Blue Water Beach Campground are smaller private operations; call ahead, since summer weekends and seasonal sites fill early.
