Campgrounds near Granville, New York
Granville sits in Washington County on the New York and Vermont border, in the Slate Valley between the Adirondacks to the west and the Taconic and Green Mountains to the east. Most developed campgrounds within a short drive are on the Vermont side of the line, clustered around Lake St. Catherine and Lake Bomoseen, with private options filling in near Fort Ann and Dorset.
The closest public campground is Lake St. Catherine State Park, a 117-acre park on the shore of Lake St. Catherine with 50 tent/RV sites, 11 lean-tos, and one rental cabin. A bit farther north, Bomoseen State Park covers 3,576 acres in the Taconic Mountains on Lake Bomoseen, the largest lake entirely within Vermont, with 55 tent/RV sites, 10 lean-tos, a sandy beach, boat rentals, and an RV dump station.
Private options round out the picture. Granite Hill Lodge & Campground in Fort Ann targets RV travellers with hookup sites, Dorset RV Park operates from May through October with full hookup back-in and pull-thru sites, and Lake Bomoseen KOA Holiday offers a full-service private resort near the lake.
Things to do near Granville
Water access drives most trip planning in this corridor. Lake St. Catherine State Park has a sandy beach with a designated swimming area, a boat launch with canoe, kayak, and pedal boat rentals, and fishing for panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow and brown trout, yellow perch, and northern pike. Bomoseen adds a second sandy beach and boat rentals on a larger lake.
On land, the Slate History Trail and the Bomoseen Loop Trail run through Bomoseen's former quarry landscape, a reminder that Granville itself is a historic slate-mining town. Mountain biking has grown in the surrounding area, with a loop of trails near the north parking area at Lake St. Catherine and larger networks in the Rutland region.
Day trips are easy in every direction: Lake George beaches and outlet shopping to the west, Manchester, Vermont shopping and Hildene to the east, and Saratoga Springs about an hour south.

- winter
December - February
30° / 18°F 70 mmCold and snowy; all nearby campgrounds closed.
The camping window is short and well defined. Camping season in the Bomoseen region typically runs from Memorial Day weekend through mid-October, with most state park facilities closing after Columbus Day weekend. Lake St. Catherine State Park operates seasonally from late May into mid-October, and Dorset RV Park runs May through October.
Summer, June through early September, is the prime season, with warm days for swimming, boating, and water activities, while the shoulder seasons of late spring and early fall bring less crowded conditions and mild temperatures. Waterfront sites at state parks book out early for July and August weekends.
Fall foliage draws a second wave of visitors from late September into early October. Nights turn cold quickly at that point, so RVs with working furnaces have a real advantage over tent setups. Winter camping is not offered at any of the nearby state parks or the listed private campgrounds.

How to book campgrounds near Granville
Vermont state parks, including Lake St. Catherine and Bomoseen, use a single reservation system. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance on a rolling basis, and up to 2 pm on the day of arrival. There are three booking channels: the Vermont State Parks reservation website, the central call center on weekdays, and, during the season, the park directly.
Reservations made more than 7 days in advance require a two-night minimum, while one-night stays are allowed within 7 days of arrival, any day of the week. Waterfront and lean-to sites book out first, especially for summer weekends and foliage weekends in early October.
Private campgrounds like Dorset RV Park, Granite Hill Lodge & Campground, and Lake Bomoseen KOA Holiday take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone.
What to expect on-site
Vermont state park campgrounds in this area are traditional: wooded or lakeside sites with picnic table and fire ring, flush toilets, and coin- or token-operated hot showers. Lake St. Catherine has an RV sanitary station but no hookups, and Bomoseen follows the same pattern with a dump station and community water faucet. Larger RVs should plan to arrive with full water tanks and dump on the way out.
For full hookups, private campgrounds are the better fit. Dorset RV Park caters primarily to RV campers, with full hookups on gravel sites shaded by tall trees, and Lake Bomoseen KOA Holiday offers similar full-service sites.
A firewood rule applies statewide in Vermont: do not bring firewood into Vermont state parks from outside the state unless it is packaged, labeled, and heat-treated, with a label showing USDA or state agriculture certification. Buying on-site or at a Vermont retailer keeps campers compliant.

Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every reservation includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. After that window, refunds depend on how far out your trip is, and RVezy customer support is available if plans change. You will see the exact terms before confirming your booking. Pro tip: book early for fall foliage weeks in October when Slate Valley colors peak, since Granville RV rentals sell out fastest then.

Yes, RV delivery in Granville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. That means no stressful highway driving on Route 22 or 149 for you. Popular delivery destinations include Lake George Escape and Lake George RV Resort. Use the Delivery filter, then check each host's delivery radius and per-mile fee. weather.gov/aly/I've never driven an RV before. Will I be okay around Granville?
You'll be in great shape, first time renting an RV is exactly what RVezy is built for. Granville sits on flat, two-lane country roads like Route 22 and Route 149 with light traffic, far easier than Albany or NYC driving. If you're still nervous, book delivery so the RV arrives at your campsite ready to use. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop through a quiet area like the Pember Park lot before heading toward Lake George, and you'll feel confident in 15 minutes.

Your host is also your direct line for quick questions about appliances, the awning, or the generator, and most respond within minutes. If you're in a more remote stretch like the Adirondack Park or Green Mountain National Forest where cell signal drops, note the nearest town before heading out (Granville, Whitehall, and Fair Haven all have reliable service). Pro tip: save RVezy support and your host's number in your phone before pickup so help is one tap away anywhere on your route.
dot.ny.gov/divisions/operating/oom/transportation-systems/repository/511NY_BrochureWeb.pdfCan I take my Granville RV rental into Vermont or other states?
Yes, interstate travel is one of the best parts of an RV road trip from Granville. You're right on the Vermont border, so crossing into Vermont for Lake Bomoseen, Manchester, or the Green Mountains is as simple as driving east on Route 149. Trips into Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and throughout New England are also easy and fully covered. The only restriction is Mexico, which is not allowed on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage limits. Travel into Canada (Montreal is about 175 miles north) may be allowed; confirm with your host before booking. Pro tip: a 5-day Granville-to-Burlington-to-Lake Placid loop is one of the most scenic regional itineraries you can drive.
cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/know-before-you-goHow much should I budget for fuel on a Granville RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to plan for. Class C motorhomes around Granville average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, campervans and Class Bs get 16 to 22 mpg, and a truck pulling a travel trailer typically runs 10 to 14 mpg. Gas in upstate New York runs slightly higher than the national average, so fill up across the Vermont line in Fair Haven or Poultney when possible, where prices are often lower. For a typical 3-day, 250-mile loop to Lake George and back, budget roughly $90 to $180 in fuel depending on rig size. Pro tip: the Stewart's in Granville on Route 22 is a reliable, easy-in/easy-out fuel stop for bigger rigs.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Granville?
For the best sites, book early. New York State Parks like Lake George Battleground and Hearthstone Point open reservations up to 9 months ahead through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends can sell out within hours. Vermont State Parks (Emerald Lake, Lake St. Catherine) book through their own reservation system up to 11 months out. Private parks like Lake George RV Resort and Lake Lauderdale typically fill 3 to 6 months ahead for July and August. For shoulder-season trips in May or late September, 2 to 4 weeks' notice usually works. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday or Monday) at popular Lake George campgrounds often have openings even when peak summer weekends are fully booked.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the driving conditions like around Granville?
Driving around Granville, NY is refreshingly mellow compared to most Northeast destinations. Route 22 and Route 149 are flat, two-lane roads with light traffic and good shoulders, ideal for new RVers. Heading west toward Lake George, you'll encounter rolling hills but no steep grades. Venture into the Adirondacks or Green Mountains and you'll meet curvier roads and modest climbs, easy in any RV but worth taking slowly. Winter (December through March) brings snow and ice; most RV rentals operate May through October to avoid this. Pro tip: avoid the narrow stretch of Route 4 through downtown Whitehall during weekday rush; loop via Route 22A on the Vermont side for a smoother drive in a big rig.
511ny.org/What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Granville?
Campgrounds near Granville offer a great range of amenities. Full-hookup sites (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric) are standard at Lake George RV Resort, Lake Lauderdale, Lake George Escape, and Lake Bomoseen KOA. New York State Park campgrounds like Hearthstone Point typically offer electric and water but no sewer at the site, with dump stations on-site. Most parks have potable water fills, dump stations, hot showers, laundry, variable Wi-Fi, camp stores, and playgrounds. Pro tip: if you are boondocking or staying at a no-hookup state park, gas stations in Granville plus the dump station at Lake George Battleground are reliable resupply points for fresh water and waste disposal between trips.
parks.ny.gov/camping/What features and equipment come with a Granville RV rental?
Most RVs on RVezy come fully equipped and trip-ready. Expect a real bed (queen or king), a kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, an indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control with furnace and AC, dining and lounge seating with seatbelts for travel, and exterior awning. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, and an onboard generator or solar setup, perfect for boondocking near the Adirondacks where hookups are scarce. Wi-Fi varies, so confirm with your host if you need to work on the road. Pro tip: check each listing's photos and amenities list closely, and message the host about specifics like coffee maker style, bedding, or kid-friendly features before booking.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-rv-safetyWhat add-ons and options can I get with my RV rental in Granville?
RVezy hosts in Granville offer plenty of add-ons to make your trip smoother. Common extras include delivery and setup, generator hours, additional mileage packages, linen and kitchen kits, camp chairs, outdoor grills, bike racks, and kayaks or paddleboards, perfect for nearby Lake St. Catherine or Lake George. Pickup is typically at the host's home or a meeting spot; drop-off is usually at the same location at an agreed time. Mileage policies vary, with many hosts including 100 to 150 free miles per night and additional miles at $0.30 to $0.50 each. Pro tip: bundling add-ons (linens + camp chairs + delivery) with one host often costs less than sourcing them separately around town.
iloveny.com/things-to-do/outdoors/camping/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. A refundable security deposit (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV) is held separately before pickup to cover any incidentals, and it is released back to your card after a successful return with no issues. To avoid hiccups: do a thorough walkthrough at pickup, take timestamped photos inside and out, return with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and dump tanks if required. Pro tip: clarify cleaning expectations with your Granville host in writing through the RVezy message thread.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Granville for winter or cold-weather camping?
Winter RVing here is an adventure, and yes, it's possible. While most Granville RV rentals operate May through October, some hosts offer four-season RVs with heated tanks, enclosed underbellies, and shore-power-ready setups for late fall and winter trips. Average winter temps in Granville range from 15 to 32°F with regular snow, so you'll want a rig built for it. Use the RVezy message feature to ask hosts directly about cold-weather capability and whether they allow winter bookings. Lake George Escape and a handful of private parks stay open into late October, and Adirondack winter camping at Lake Harris (open year-round) is unforgettable. Pro tip: pack a heated water hose and extra propane, and confirm the campground's winter water status.
