Camping near Greenwich, New York
Greenwich sits in Washington County in eastern New York, roughly 20 minutes east of Saratoga Springs and a short drive from the Vermont border. The area works well as an RV base for travelers who want quiet rural scenery, Hudson River access, and easy day trips into both the southern Adirondack foothills and the Green Mountains.
Campground options within a 30-mile radius range from family-run parks to full-service RV resorts. Lake Lauderdale Campground sits on wooded acreage near Cambridge, about 20 minutes from Saratoga Springs and close to the Vermont border. Saratoga RV Park, Coldbrook RV Resorts, and Sun Retreats Adirondack Gateway cluster on the Saratoga side of the region, while Adventure Bound Deer Run offers a resort-style stay with water attractions.
The Greenwich area features several established campgrounds with options ranging from basic tent sites to full-service RV parks and cabin rentals. Proximity to both the Adirondack Mountains and Vermont provides diverse landscapes and recreational opportunities within an easy drive.
Things to do around Greenwich
History travelers can build a full day around the year-round battlefield visitor center at Saratoga National Historical Park, with its film, museum exhibits, and roughly 9.5-mile auto and bike tour road. The nearby Saratoga Monument in the Village of Victory commemorates the American victory in the Battles of Saratoga, rises 155 feet with 188 interior steps, and is open on a seasonal weekend schedule during summer and early fall.
Saratoga Springs adds racing, dining, and cultural stops within about a 20-minute drive. Saratoga Race Course has hosted thoroughbred racing since 1863, with the modern 40-day meet running from mid-July through Labor Day.
On-site activity varies by campground. Lake Lauderdale Campground offers themed weekends plus hiking, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing, and Saratoga RV Park amenities include a heated pool, laundry, and courts for pickleball and volleyball.

The private-campground season around Greenwich is short. Most parks in this region open in late April or early May and close in mid-October, with a wave of closures after Columbus Day weekend. Travelers arriving outside those months should plan on limited hookups and closed bathhouses.
Summer is peak. The Saratoga race meet, concerts at SPAC, and warm-lake weather push weekend demand hard from July through Labor Day, so sites near Saratoga fill weeks ahead. Late spring and early fall are quieter, with cooler nights and fewer bugs, and fall foliage in Washington County typically peaks from late September into mid-October.
Winter travel is limited. Summers are warm while winters are cold and snowy, with precipitation spread relatively evenly through the year and winter moisture frequently arriving as snow. Saratoga Springs averages about 62 inches of snow annually, which effectively rules out RV camping at the private parks listed here between November and April.

How to book a campground near Greenwich
Private campgrounds around Greenwich book directly. Lake Lauderdale Campground, Saratoga RV Park, Coldbrook RV Resorts, and Adventure Bound Deer Run take reservations through their own websites or third-party platforms such as Campspot and Hipcamp. Book summer weekends and race-meet dates as early as the calendar opens, typically in winter or early spring.
Sun Retreats Adirondack Gateway focuses on seasonal site rentals, so short-stay RV travelers should confirm nightly availability before planning around it.
For public campgrounds in the region, reservations for New York State Parks and DEC campgrounds run through ReserveAmerica up to nine months in advance. Sites open at 8 AM Monday through Friday and 9 AM Saturday and Sunday between March 15 and Labor Day. Individual campgrounds do not take direct bookings; all reservations must go through the ReserveAmerica system.
What to expect at Greenwich-area campgrounds
Expect small-town rural surroundings and a mix of wooded and open sites. Terrain is rolling farmland with lake and river views, and cell service is generally reliable but not universal. Most parks in this list accept larger rigs, but confirm site length and slide-out clearance when booking, particularly at older, tree-shaded loops.
Hookups vary by park. Lake Lauderdale Campground ranges from primitive tent sites to full hookups and includes cabin and trailer rentals, a store, playground, rec building, and laundry. Sun Retreats Adirondack Gateway and Saratoga RV Park lean toward resort-style amenities with pools and organized activities, while Coldbrook RV Resorts is a more basic RV stop close to I-87.
Bring bug protection in early summer, layers for cool nights even in July, and a reservation confirmation saved offline. Downtown Greenwich has groceries, fuel, and a walkable main street.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Greenwich,%20New%20YorkDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Greenwich, NY?
Good news: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Greenwich. New York's Class D license covers any motorhome or trailer combination with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less, which includes essentially every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, and travel trailer you'll find on RVezy. No Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for personal-use RVs. You'll need to be 25 or older to book, and RVezy verifies your identity through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the United States? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you're cleared to hit the back roads of Washington County.

Booking an RV trip from Greenwich is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy that applies platform-wide. Every reservation includes a grace period after booking where you can cancel for a full refund, and additional refund options apply based on how far out from your trip start date you cancel. If a host cancels on you, RVezy helps with a refund or credit so your plans stay on track. You do not need to dig through individual listings, the policy is the same for every booking. Greenwich and the surrounding Washington County trails are perfect for dogs, from the leash-friendly paths along Hudson Crossing Park in nearby Schuylerville to walks near the Battenkill. Moreau Lake State Park, about 30 minutes west, allows leashed pets in designated areas. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and any size notes so check-in is smooth and your pup is ready for an upstate adventure.
parks.ny.gov/regulations/pets.aspxCan I get RV delivery in Greenwich, NY?
Yes, RV delivery in Greenwich is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it is your first time renting. Many RVezy hosts in the Capital Region will drive the RV directly to your campsite, driveway, or vacation rental, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no towing stress, no backing into a tight site, and no wondering which switch turns on the water pump. Popular delivery destinations from Greenwich include Lake Lauderdale Campground, Moreau Lake State Park, and Lake George area parks. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts who offer this service in your dates.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Greenwich,%20New%20YorkWhat is the mileage policy and how far can I drive from Greenwich?
Mileage on RVezy is set by each host, and you will see the exact daily allowance and any per-mile overage rate right on the listing before you book. Many Greenwich-area hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per day, and some offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage option, which is ideal for a longer Adirondacks or Vermont loop. To plan ahead, Greenwich sits roughly 35 miles from Lake George, 30 miles from Saratoga Springs, 50 miles from Manchester, Vermont, and 90 miles from Lake Placid. Pro tip: if your route is mileage-heavy, message the host and ask about a flat unlimited add-on, it often costs less than per-mile overages.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106394-How-to-pay-for-your-bookingWhere can I camp near Greenwich, NY?
Some of the best campgrounds near Greenwich are within a short drive. Lake Lauderdale Campground, roughly 15 miles east, offers full hookup RV sites with mountain views and a private lake. Camping on the Battenkill in Arlington, Vermont (about 25 miles east) offers riverside sites perfect for tubing and fly-fishing. About 30 minutes west, Moreau Lake State Park gives you swimming, hiking, and electric hookup sites. For something bigger, Lake George RV Park is about an hour north and consistently rated among the top RV resorts in the Northeast. Book early for summer weekends and fall foliage season.
parks.ny.gov/parks/moreaulake/When is the best time to rent an RV in Greenwich, NY?
The sweet spot for a Greenwich RV trip is late May through mid-October, with peak conditions from June through September when daytime highs typically range from the mid-70s to low-80s Fahrenheit and nights stay cool and comfortable for camping. Fall foliage from late September through mid-October is a local favorite, the rolling hills around the Battenkill and Vermont border light up in red and gold, and crowds thin out considerably. July is the warmest month, perfect for swimming at Moreau Lake or Lake George. Winter dips well below freezing with regular snow, so most campgrounds close in mid to late October. Pro tip: book foliage-week rentals by early August.
weather.gov/aly/I have never rented an RV before. What should I expect?
You are in good hands, first time renting an RV is one of the most common scenarios on RVezy and hosts know how to set you up for success. Every booking includes an in-person orientation at pickup, or at delivery if your host offers it, where they walk you through driving, leveling, hookups, the water system, propane, slide-outs, and the generator. You can message your host before booking with any question, from parking dimensions to which campgrounds the rig fits best. RVezy support and 24/7 roadside assistance are there if anything comes up on the road. Pro tip: ask for a printed or digital cheat sheet of the systems so you have a quick reference at your campsite.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360003046533-RentersWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You are never alone on the road in a Greenwich RV rental. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so a flat tire on Route 29, a dead battery at a Saratoga campground, or a mechanical hiccup heading toward Lake George is one phone call away from help. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip for non-emergency questions. Your host is typically your first point of contact for quirks specific to their RV, and most respond within minutes. Pro tip: save the roadside number and your host contact in your phone before you leave the driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Greenwich RV rental to Vermont or across state lines?
Yes, a Greenwich RV rental is perfectly positioned for a multi-state RV road trip from Greenwich. The Vermont border is only about 15 miles east, putting Manchester, Stratton, and the Green Mountain National Forest within an easy day's drive. You can also head north into the Adirondacks, west to the Finger Lakes, or south to the Hudson Valley without any special paperwork. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and protection coverage, so message the host directly to confirm before booking a cross-border trip. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals. Pro tip: a 5 to 7 day loop through Vermont's Route 7A and back via Lake George is a local favorite.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Greenwich RV trip?
Fuel is one of the easier costs to estimate. Campervans and small Class C motorhomes around Greenwich typically get 12 to 18 miles per gallon, while larger Class A motorhomes average 8 to 10 MPG. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves, but your tow vehicle's mileage will drop by 30 to 40 percent when hitched. New York gas prices in the Capital Region usually run a bit above the national average, so plan accordingly. For a typical 4-day, 300-mile loop from Greenwich up to Lake George and back through Saratoga, expect to spend roughly $100 to $180 on fuel in a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Greenwich or Schuylerville before heading into the Adirondacks, where pumps are sparser and pricier.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Greenwich?
For peak summer and fall foliage weekends, book your campsite as early as possible, ideally 3 to 6 months out. New York State Parks like Moreau Lake open reservations up to 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and the prime electric sites near the beach go fast for July and August weekends. Private campgrounds such as Lake Lauderdale also fill quickly, especially for holiday weekends. Mid-week stays and shoulder-season trips in May or late September are much easier to land last-minute. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for the 9-month window if you are targeting a specific Moreau Lake site.
newyorkstateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the driving conditions like around Greenwich, NY?
Driving an RV around Greenwich is refreshingly mellow, especially compared to bigger metro areas. State Routes 29, 40, and 22 are well-paved two-lane country roads with gentle grades, wide shoulders, and minimal traffic outside of summer weekends. The only spots that demand extra attention are the historic covered bridges of Washington County (most have low clearances and weight limits, so plan to route around them in larger RVs) and the winding climbs heading into the Adirondack foothills north of Lake George. Winter brings snow and ice from November through March. Pro tip: download an RV-safe GPS app like RV Life or CoPilot to automatically avoid low bridges and tight rural turns.
