Campgrounds and RV parks near Theresa, NY

Theresa sits in Jefferson County in northern New York, roughly a fifteen to twenty minute drive from Alexandria Bay and the St. Lawrence River. The town is known locally as the Land of Lakes and puts RV travelers within easy reach of the Thousand Islands, one of the busiest state-park camping corridors in the state. Most campgrounds relevant to Theresa are clustered along Route 12 between Clayton and Alexandria Bay. Keewaydin State Park, Kring Point State Park, Grass Point State Park, Swan Bay Resort and Marina, and 1000 Islands Campground all fall within a short highway drive of the village and offer a mix of state-run and private sites. Expect a strong waterfront orientation: campgrounds here trade forested seclusion for river views, boat launches, and swimming access. The state parks are administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, while Swan Bay Resort and Marina and 1000 Islands Campground operate privately with their own booking systems and amenity mixes.

New York state parks in the area, including Keewaydin State Park, Kring Point State Park, and Grass Point State Park, all reserve through ReserveAmerica. The online window opens up to nine months before arrival, and same-day reservations are accepted until 3 p.m. on the day of arrival for campsites. Walk-ins are permitted for campsites only, not cabins. One-night stays can be booked online within three days of arrival, and the maximum stay at these parks is fourteen consecutive nights. Cabins at Kring Point State Park carry seven to fourteen-night minimum-stay requirements during peak summer weeks, with two-night minimums off peak. Swan Bay Resort and Marina and 1000 Islands Campground handle bookings directly through their own websites and phone lines rather than ReserveAmerica, so check each private operator's calendar separately.
