The camper was clean, comfortable and was perfect for what was needed. They are very accommodating as Greg had to delivery one to a location almost two hours away one way. Then had to turn around and drop off to me which is around an hour. Every thing went smoothly, the generator starts on first pull and was great on gas. We were happy to have the camper on Thursday as it poured for part of the night. In the past when it rained we were in a tent. It was nice to be able to take a shower to get the dust off of me and sweat. Bed is super comfortable and the ac worked well but we only used it for a short time. All in all it was a great experience dealing with them. Will be looking forward to using them again next year.

My son and I stayed in this camper for a long weekend in the Catskills. It was perfect, and exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be staying in it every year for this event!

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Tannersville, NY

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Tannersville, NY?

Good news: an RV rental in Tannersville is one of the most budget-friendly ways to enjoy the Catskills. On RVezy, travel trailers typically run about $75 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $300 per night, and luxury Class A rigs trend higher during peak fall foliage and ski season. Mid-week stays in late spring and early fall are where you'll find the real deals, often 20 to 30 percent below summer weekend rates. For a cheap RV rental in Tannersville, filter for travel trailers with delivery included so you skip the tow vehicle. Pro tip: lock in October leaf-peeping weekends by July, since prices climb fast once Hunter Mountain's foliage forecasts go viral.

What license do I need to rent an RV in Tannersville?

A standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Tannersville, NY. New York State does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for the recreational vehicles you'll find on RVezy, including Class A motorhomes, Class C rigs, campervans, and travel trailers. You'll need to be 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your identity through the platform during booking, so there's no DMV trip required. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local automobile association. Most first-time renters are surprised how straightforward the paperwork is, you book online, upload your ID, and you're set.

Is the RV covered if something happens during my trip?

Yes, every RV rental in Tannersville booked on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can drive Route 23A and explore the Catskills with peace of mind. You choose your protection level at checkout (not the host), and the plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your rental, from a scraped slide-out to a flat tire on the way up Hunter Mountain. While it isn't a traditional auto insurance policy, it provides substantial financial backup for the most common mishaps. Pick the tier that matches your comfort level and enjoy the drive knowing RVezy support is one tap away.

What if I need to cancel my Tannersville RV rental?

Booking is low-risk. RVezy sets a standardized cancellation policy for every reservation (not individual hosts), and there is a grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. Depending on how far ahead of your trip you cancel, you may receive a partial or full refund, and special circumstances are reviewed by the RVezy support team. Because the policy is standardized across the platform, you won't see a per-listing cancellation policy. If a host cancels on you, RVezy will refund you or help you rebook. If your plans shift, just reach out and the team will walk you through your options.

Can I bring my dog on an RV trip in Tannersville?

Yes, a pet-friendly RV rental in Tannersville is easy to find on RVezy: just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search. The Catskills are a dog lover's dream, with leashed pups welcome on the Kaaterskill Falls trail, around North-South Lake, and along most trails in the surrounding Catskill Forest Preserve. North-South Lake Campground allows dogs on a leash no longer than six feet with proof of current rabies vaccination, so bring the tag or vet certificate. Pro tip: Tannersville's Main Street is dog-friendly, and many shops set out water bowls in summer, perfect for a stroll after a morning hike.

Can the RV be delivered to my campground near Tannersville?

Yes, RV delivery in Tannersville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers who don't want to drive a big rig up Route 23A's switchbacks. Many local hosts will deliver, level, and set up your motorhome or travel trailer directly at your campsite, whether that's North-South Lake in Haines Falls, Devil's Tombstone in Hunter, or a private property in Tannersville. They'll walk you through the systems on arrival, so you're not Googling how to extend a slide-out at 8 p.m. Filter by Delivery when searching, then message the host with your campsite number to confirm fees and timing. Easiest way to enjoy RV camping Tannersville with zero stress.

How many miles can I drive on my Tannersville RV rental?

You've got plenty of room to roam: most RVezy hosts in the Tannersville area offer 100 to 150 free miles per day, and some list RV rentals with unlimited mileage, perfect for a wider Catskills loop. Each listing shows the daily mileage allowance plus the per-mile rate beyond it (typically $0.30 to $0.50). For context, Tannersville to Woodstock is about 25 miles, Hunter Mountain is 5 miles, North-South Lake is 8 miles, and the full Catskill Mountain loop via Phoenicia and back is around 60 miles. If you're planning a bigger RV road trip from Tannersville to the Adirondacks or Niagara Falls, sort by unlimited mileage to save a bundle.

Where are the best campgrounds near Tannersville, NY?

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping near Tannersville. The standout is North-South Lake Campground in Haines Falls, the largest state campground in the Catskill Forest Preserve, with wooded sites, two swimming beaches, a dump station, and access to Kaaterskill Falls. Devil's Tombstone Campground in Hunter is a small, rustic option just south of town along Route 214. Woodland Valley Campground near Phoenicia (about 30 minutes away) is a favorite for trout fishing on Esopus Creek. Looking for full hookups? Brookside Campground and Camp Catskills RV Park offer 30/50-amp power, water, and sewer. Pro tip: book North-South Lake at least three months ahead for summer weekends.

When is the best time to visit Tannersville in an RV?

Tannersville shines from late May through mid-October, with the absolute sweet spot being late September through mid-October when the Catskills explode in fall color and daytime highs sit in the comfortable 55 to 70°F range. Summer (June through August) brings highs around 74 to 80°F, noticeably cooler than NYC because the village sits near 1,900 feet of elevation. Spring rolls in slow here: April still averages highs in the low 50s, and snow can linger into early May. Winter is its own adventure with Hunter Mountain skiing minutes away, though most public campgrounds close mid-October. For the best mix of weather and crowds, aim for mid-week trips in early June or late September.

I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay in Tannersville?

You'll be in great hands. First time renting an RV? Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, and dump procedures before you drive off. If the idea of climbing Route 23A's hairpin turn near Kaaterskill Clove makes you nervous, choose a host who offers delivery, the RV arrives at your campsite already leveled and hooked up. Smaller Class B campervans and travel trailers under 25 feet are the friendliest pick for Tannersville's narrow mountain roads. RVezy support is available 24/7 by phone or chat throughout your trip, and your host's number is in your booking. Confidence comes faster than you think.

What happens if I have a breakdown or flat tire in the Catskills?

Help is one call away. Every RV rental in Tannersville booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance with the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, towing, and mechanical breakdowns. Cell service can dip in parts of the Catskill Forest Preserve, especially in Platte Clove or along stretches of Route 214, so screenshot your booking and the roadside number before you head out. The nearest full-service mechanics and tire shops are in Hunter, Tannersville, and down the mountain in Catskill, all within about 20 minutes. If something does go sideways, contact RVezy support and they'll coordinate everything. You handle the s'mores, they handle the logistics.

What are good road trip destinations from Tannersville?

You're sitting on one of the best launchpads in the Northeast for an RV road trip from Tannersville. Easy picks include Woodstock (about 25 miles, 35 minutes) for arts and live music, Hudson (35 miles, 50 minutes) for antiques and the Hudson River waterfront, Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame (90 miles, about 2 hours), the Adirondacks via Lake George (110 miles, 2.5 hours), and Niagara Falls (350 miles, about 6 hours). New York City is roughly 130 miles south, but most RVers skip the city and head north or west. Cross-border travel to Canada is allowed on many RVezy listings (Montreal is around 5 hours), confirm with your host first. Travel to Mexico isn't permitted under RVezy coverage.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Tannersville RV trip?

Easier to budget than you'd think. Most Class C motorhomes get 8 to 10 miles per gallon, Class B campervans 16 to 20 mpg, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically a 20 to 30 percent hit to its normal mpg). New York gas prices tend to run a bit above the national average, and the closest stations to Tannersville are in the village itself plus Hunter and Haines Falls, with cheaper fuel down the mountain in Catskill along Route 9W. For a typical 4-night Catskills loop covering about 200 miles, expect $80 to $150 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up before climbing back up Route 23A, prices drop noticeably near I-87.

How far in advance should I book a campground near Tannersville?

Earlier is better for the Catskills' most-loved spots. North-South Lake and other New York State campgrounds open reservations 9 months in advance through ReserveAmerica, and prime summer weekends plus the fall foliage stretch (mid-September to mid-October) book up fast, often within days of release. For a July or August Saturday at North-South Lake, aim to book by February. Private RV parks in the area generally have more last-minute availability, especially mid-week. If you're flexible, Sunday through Wednesday arrivals open up far more options. Pro tip: set a calendar reminder for exactly 9 months before your target date and book at 9 a.m. Eastern when the reservation window opens.

What are the driving conditions like around Tannersville?

Tannersville sits at about 1,900 feet, and the main route up from the Hudson Valley is Route 23A, a scenic but steep two-lane road with a sharp curve near Kaaterskill Falls and grades up to 8 percent. It's totally manageable in any RV, just take it slow, use lower gears descending, and pull over at the marked overlooks if traffic stacks up behind you. Avoid Platte Clove Road (County Route 16): it's narrow, has hairpin turns, and is officially closed to RVs and trailers. In winter, Route 23A is plowed and salted, but tire chains or snow tires are smart from November through March. Mornings can be foggy in the clove, just slow down and enjoy the views.

What amenities do campgrounds near Tannersville offer?

You'll find a healthy mix. North-South Lake Campground has wooded sites with picnic tables and fire rings, restrooms with hot showers, a trailer dump station, potable water fill stations, and a boat launch, but no individual site hookups (it's a state campground). For full 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, head to Camp Catskills RV Park, Brookside Campground, or Thousand Trails Rondout Valley about 45 minutes south. Most state campgrounds in the area allow generator use during set hours (typically 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.). Pro tip: top off your fresh water before climbing up to Tannersville, and dump tanks at North-South Lake's free dump station before heading home, it saves a stop down the mountain.

What's inside a typical RV rental in Tannersville?

More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Tannersville sleeps 4 to 8 and comes with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette, full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, propane furnace for cold Catskill nights, a roof or onboard generator, and seatbelts for travel. Most listings include a TV, and many offer WiFi boosters, though expect spotty cell service in the deeper parts of the Catskill Forest Preserve. Class B campervans are cozier with smaller kitchens and wet baths but easier on the mountain roads. Each RVezy listing shows exact specs, bed configurations, and included amenities, so you can match the rig to your crew with confidence.

What add-ons and options can I get with my RV rental?

Plenty of extras can make your Catskills trip easier. Many RVezy hosts in Tannersville offer popular add-ons like camp chairs and tables, bedding and linen packages, generator usage, bike racks, BBQ grills, kayaks or paddleboards, and pet packages. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on locally, usually priced per mile from the host's location, and it's worth every penny for first-timers. Pickup and dropoff times are set by each host (commonly early afternoon pickup and late morning return), and many accommodate earlier or later windows for a small fee. Each listing displays mileage limits and per-mile overage rates upfront, so there are no surprises when you return.

How does the security deposit and payment work?

Payment is simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in Tannersville on RVezy, you pay directly through the platform with a credit or debit card, no cash, no wire transfers, no payment outside the system. The refundable security deposit is separate from your booking payment and is placed as a hold on your card before pickup, then released after return assuming no damage or extra cleaning. To keep things smooth: do a quick walk-around video at pickup and dropoff, empty the tanks if your host requires it, and return with a similar fuel level. Questions about a charge? RVezy's support team mediates any disputes directly.

Can I rent an RV in Tannersville during winter for skiing?

Yes, and it's an underrated way to ski Hunter Mountain and Windham. A winter RV rental in Tannersville is available year-round through RVezy, with many hosts offering four-season rigs featuring heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces built for sub-freezing nights (January lows here average roughly in the teens Fahrenheit). Most state campgrounds close in mid to late fall, so winter renters typically use a private year-round park, a host-owned site, or delivery to a private property with shore power. Pro tip: ask your host about a heated water hose and winter skirting, both make a big difference. Hunter Mountain is just a short drive from the village.
