For water-based days, Peck's Lake offers fishing, swimming, and hiking, and is one of the largest lakes in Fulton County. Great Sacandaga Lake, a short drive north, is a large reservoir popular for boating and fishing. Families often add Adirondack Animal Land in Gloversville, Howe Caverns to the south, and the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, all within roughly an hour of Tribes Hill.

Firewood should be bought locally to protect New York's forests from moving untreated wood long distances.
