Campgrounds and RV parks near Carthage, NC

Carthage sits in Moore County in the North Carolina Sandhills, roughly midway between Raleigh and Charlotte and a short drive north of Pinehurst and Southern Pines. The area serves as a practical base for RV travelers heading to Uwharrie National Forest, Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve, and the golf and equestrian scene around Pinehurst. Options close to town lean toward private, family-run parks. Farm Pond Campground and Goodwins RV Campground offer straightforward RV stays close to Carthage itself, while Daily Walk Stables and Campground and Idlewild Farm Stays cater to travelers who want a rural, farm-based setting. Sycamore Lodge Resort in nearby Jackson Springs is the largest resort-style option in the area, spread across 194 wooded acres with full-hookup RV sites and cabins. For public-land camping, Uwharrie National Forest lies roughly 30 to 45 minutes west, with developed campgrounds at Badin Lake Recreation Area that book through Recreation.gov. Morrow Mountain State Park, on the west edge of the Uwharries, adds another option for families combining hiking with an RV stay.

Private parks in the Carthage area handle bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Sycamore Lodge Resort operates as a Travel Resorts of America property and accepts non-member reservations for RV sites and cabins, with a standard 1 p.m. check-in and 11 a.m. check-out for RV sites. Smaller options like Farm Pond Campground, Goodwins RV Campground, Daily Walk Stables and Campground, and Idlewild Farm Stays typically confirm by phone or through their listings. For Uwharrie National Forest campgrounds, including Arrowhead, Badin Lake and Canebrake Horse Camp, reservations go through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777, with sites bookable up to six months in advance. Popular summer and holiday weekends can book out well in advance, so locking in dates early is wise. A limited number of first-come, first-served sites remain available at some Uwharrie loops.
