Campgrounds and RV parks near Eastover, NC

The Cape Fear River is the defining feature of the area. Paddlers bring their own canoes or kayaks to launches near Raven Rock State Park, where the namesake 150-foot crystalline structure overlooks the Cape Fear River. The park also has hiking trails including the family-friendly Little Creek Loop and the longer Campbell Creek Loop, plus bridle and bike trails. Closer to town, families use Fayetteville as a base for the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, the Cape Fear Botanical Garden, and the North Carolina Veterans Park. Lake Waldos Beach Campground and RV Campground and Storage Tucker Lake give kids access to swimming and fishing without leaving the campground, which is often the easiest option after a driving day.

The Sandhills climate is humid subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV camping: daytime highs sit in the seventies, humidity is lower than in July or August, and biting insects are less aggressive. Wildflowers and dogwoods peak in April, and hardwoods along the Cape Fear turn in late October and early November. Summer brings highs near 90°F, high humidity, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. August experiences the highest amount of precipitation, and the Atlantic hurricane season peaks from mid-August through October, occasionally sending tropical rain inland to Cumberland and Harnett counties. Sites with good drainage and shade are worth prioritizing in this window. Winters are short with snowfall rare, occurring mostly in January and February. Most private parks stay open, and the Raven Rock campground remains open seven days a week, closed only on Christmas Day, making the shoulder months a quiet option for RV renters who want availability.

Sites in the Eastover and Fayetteville area are generally level, with pine-and-hardwood shade that helps in summer heat. Full hookups with 30- and 50-amp service are common at the private parks, and Raven Rock offers nine RV sites with 50-amp, 30-amp, and a 20-amp outlet plus full water and sewer. Long driveways can accommodate RVs of all sizes, and the campground includes a modern bathhouse with separate men's and women's restrooms and showers plus an ADA-accessible family restroom and shower. Trailers, RVs, and campers should not drive into the main park entrance, where parking and roadways are very limited for large vehicles; instead go directly to Moccasin Branch Campground and staff will come by to check campers in. Pets are allowed at RV and tent sites but not in cabins. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the region, and grocery, fuel, and RV supply stops are easy to reach from Fayetteville.
