Campgrounds and RV parks near Five Points, NC

Golf is the dominant draw. The historic Pinehurst courses sit a short drive north, and Southern Pines offers additional courses, dining, and shopping. Nature options include Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve for longleaf-pine trails and Lumber River access for paddling on Drowning Creek. Families with kids tend to structure days around the on-park amenities. Sycamore Lodge Resort has a swimming pool, hot tub, mini-golf, playground, fishing and paddle boats, canoes, horseshoes, and nature trails on site, which reduces daily driving. Farm-based stays like Idlewild Farm Stays and Daily Walk Stables and Campground suit visitors who want animal interaction or trail-riding access. Day trips extend the itinerary: the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, the Berry Patch in Ellerbe, and downtown Fayetteville museums are all within roughly an hour.

The Sandhills have a long RV season. Spring and fall are the busiest windows, with mild days, lower humidity, and comfortable nights that suit tent campers and RVers alike. Wildflowers and dogwoods bloom from late March into April, and October foliage in the longleaf pines is subtle but pleasant. Summer brings heat and humidity. Afternoon thunderstorms are frequent from June through August, and August is typically the wettest month in the Fayetteville area, averaging over three inches of rain. Peak Atlantic hurricane season runs from mid-August through October, and remnants of tropical systems occasionally track inland over the Sandhills, so travelers should watch National Hurricane Center advisories. Winter is mild by North American standards but not frost-free. January is the coldest month, with average lows near freezing and occasional light snow between January and February. Sycamore Lodge Resort is open year-round; smaller farm and lake sites may have reduced services in the coldest weeks.

Roads into Five Points are mostly rural two-lanes with sandy shoulders. Large Class A rigs and long fifth wheels should stick to state highways where possible and confirm the final approach with the host before arrival. Cell coverage is generally usable on the main routes but can drop on back roads. Sites at Sycamore Lodge Resort are shaded by pine, sycamore, dogwood, oak, and magnolia, so satellite reception may be limited under canopy. Roughly one-third of the park offers full hookups and the rest is water and electric, per past guest reports. Bathhouses are air-conditioned. Groceries, fuel, and propane are easiest to source in Raeford, Aberdeen, or Southern Pines rather than in Five Points itself. Pack bug spray from May through September; ticks and mosquitoes are active in the pine understory.
