Campgrounds and RV parks near Greenevers, NC

Water activities dominate the region. Lake Leamon Campground centres on a small lake with swimming, fishing, boating, and family amenities, and it draws weekend crowds through the warm months. Duplin Winery in Rose Hill and the River Landing area near Wallace are common day-trip stops. Cliffs Of The Neuse State Park offers a swim lake with a sandy beach, hiking trails through riverside forest, and fishing on the Neuse River for bluegill, largemouth bass, and catfish. A visitor center with exhibits covers the geology of the layered cliffs, which rise about 90 feet above the water. Seasonal boat rentals and a concession stand operate on the lake. Beach trips to Wrightsville Beach, Topsail, and the Crystal Coast are all reachable as day drives, and historic New Bern sits within easy range for a change of pace.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in this part of North Carolina. Daytime highs are mild, humidity drops off, and the natural setting around Cliffs Of The Neuse is at its best. Reservations are easier to secure outside the peak summer swim season, though weekends still book quickly. Summer is hot and humid, with July highs around 88 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and heat-index values that can climb well above 100. Afternoon thunderstorms are common, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in August and September. Campers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories when booking in late summer and early fall, since tropical systems have historically produced heavy rainfall and inland flooding across eastern North Carolina. Winter is short and cool rather than harsh. The Cliffs Of The Neuse family campground and most private parks in the area, including Lake Leamon, stay open year-round, making off-season trips practical for renters who want quiet sites and cool-weather hiking.

Terrain around Greenevers is flat and easy for larger RVs, and I-40 makes access from Raleigh, Wilmington, and points south straightforward. Cell coverage is generally reliable near the interstate corridor and thinner in the wooded state-park loops. At Cliffs Of The Neuse State Park, sites are limited to six people, with one RV plus one tent (or a pop-up plus one tent, or two tents) per site. Pets are allowed at campsites on a leash no longer than six feet but are not permitted in the swim area or park buildings. The front gate is locked at posted closing time, with no re-entry until 8 a.m., so late arrivals need to plan ahead. Private parks such as Lake Leamon lean family-oriented, with shaded sites and standard bathhouse facilities. Expect basic, no-frills amenities rather than resort-style features, and bring firewood that is kiln-dried or heat-treated to comply with invasive-species rules.
