Campgrounds and RV parks near Manns Harbor, NC

Manns Harbor sits on the mainland shore of Croatan Sound in Dare County, North Carolina, between the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge and the bridge crossing to Roanoke Island. The village functions as a quiet base for RV travellers heading to the Outer Banks, with the beaches of Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore all reachable by a short drive east. Most campgrounds used by visitors are clustered on Roanoke Island and the barrier islands rather than in Manns Harbor itself. Beechland Campground and The Refuge on Roanoke Island offer the closest RV-friendly sites, while OBX Campground in Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk RV Park sit near the northern beach towns. Oregon Inlet Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore, run by the National Park Service, is the closest federal campground and the northernmost of four campgrounds within the Seashore. Elevation across the area is only about five feet above sea level, so nearly every site is influenced by wind, sound water, and coastal weather patterns.

Oregon Inlet Campground - Cape Hatteras National Seashore is reserved exclusively through Recreation.gov, with sites bookable up to six months in advance and stays limited to 14 days per campground between Easter Sunday and the Sunday after Thanksgiving. From the Monday after Thanksgiving to the Saturday before Easter, camping is limited to 30 days total. Walk-ups are permitted when sites are open, but payment must still be processed through Recreation.gov. Private parks in the area, including Beechland Campground, The Refuge on Roanoke Island, OBX Campground, and Kitty Hawk RV Park, take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. Full-hookup sites on the barrier islands sell out earliest for summer weekends and holidays. RV renters should confirm rig length limits and hookup type before booking, since sites vary from tent-only loops to full-hookup pads.
