Campgrounds and RV parks near Mars Hill, NC

Mars Hill sits in Madison County in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, roughly 20 miles north of Asheville along I-26. The town is a practical base for RV travelers exploring the French Broad River corridor, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the surrounding Pisgah National Forest. Elevations near town run above 2,300 feet, which keeps summer nights cooler than the Piedmont and adds real winter to the shoulder seasons. Most RV-friendly campgrounds cluster along the French Broad River south toward Asheville and Marshall. Wilson's Riverfront RV Park sits directly on the river with paddling access, French Broad River Campground offers riverside sites in the same corridor, and Asheville Bear Creek RV Park puts travelers within easy reach of downtown Asheville. Campfire Lodgings and Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground occupy higher ground east of the city with mountain views and full-hookup sites. The area combines private RV parks with public campgrounds inside Pisgah National Forest and Mount Mitchell State Park, home to the highest peak east of the Mississippi River, giving travelers a mix of full-service stays and forest-service options within a short drive.

Private RV parks in the area, including French Broad River Campground, Campfire Lodgings, Wilson's Riverfront RV Park, Asheville Bear Creek RV Park, and Mama Gertie's Hideaway Campground, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends and the October leaf-peeping window, book two to three months ahead. Big-rig sites and pull-throughs go first. National forest and Blue Ridge Parkway campsites can be reserved through recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777, with a rolling six-month booking window. Some Parkway campgrounds require a two-night minimum on weekends. Holiday weekends fill first. Check length, height, and hookup limits before confirming, since some forest campgrounds cap RV length and do not offer sewer.
