Campgrounds and RV parks near Southern Pines, NC

Southern Pines sits in the Sandhills region of North Carolina, roughly 70 miles southwest of Raleigh and within a short drive of Pinehurst, Aberdeen, and Fort Liberty. The area is defined by longleaf pine forests, sandy soils, and a heavy concentration of golf courses and equestrian land, which shapes the local campground mix: several parks lean toward horse-friendly stays, and most sit on wooded terrain rather than lakeshore. RV travelers have a compact set of options within about a 30 minute radius. Daily Walk Stables and Campground and Farm Pond Campground sit closest to town on the Vass side, while Idlewild Farm Stays offers small-scale farm camping. Sycamore Lodge Resort is the largest full-service RV park in the region, set on 194 wooded acres near Jackson Springs. Lake Waldos Beach Campground rounds out the choices with waterfront sites. Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve does not allow camping and is day-use only, so overnight visitors stay at private campgrounds and use the preserve for hiking.

Private campgrounds around Southern Pines are booked directly with each property by phone or through their websites. Sycamore Lodge Resort operates on a membership model tied to Travel Resorts of America, but also accepts non-member reservations; contact the resort for site availability and current requirements. Daily Walk Stables and Campground, Farm Pond Campground, Idlewild Farm Stays, and Lake Waldos Beach Campground are small operations where calling ahead is the most reliable option, especially outside summer. For spring golf weekends and the fall shoulder season, book six to eight weeks ahead. Sites tighten quickly during US Open years and major Pinehurst tournaments. Weymouth Woods does not offer camping, and the nearest state park with campsites is Raven Rock, reservable through the North Carolina State Parks system on ReserveAmerica up to six months in advance.
