Campgrounds near Bellevue, Ohio
Bellevue sits in north-central Ohio at the meeting point of Huron, Erie, Sandusky, and Seneca counties, roughly a half-hour drive south of Sandusky and the Lake Erie shoreline. The location puts RV renters within easy reach of Cedar Point, Put-in-Bay ferry docks, and the Firelands wine region, while keeping campgrounds in quieter rural settings away from resort-town traffic.
Most private campgrounds in the area sit along US-20, SR-4, and SR-2, with full-hookup pull-through sites sized for larger motorhomes. Gotta Getaway RV Park offers big-rig-friendly pull-through sites with 30/50 amp service, and it is positioned as a family-oriented base for Cedar Point, Sandusky, and the Put-in-Bay ferries. Crystal Rock Campground, Camp Sandusky, Leafy Oaks RV Park and Campground, and Kamp Kozy round out the immediate area and cater primarily to families visiting Cedar Point or Lake Erie beaches.
Ohio State Parks operated by ODNR add a public-land option within a short drive, including East Harbor on the Marblehead peninsula and Findley State Park to the east. Between the private RV parks and state park campgrounds, renters can choose between resort-style amenities and wooded, budget-friendly sites.
Things to do near Bellevue
Cedar Point is the dominant draw, drivable in under 30 minutes from most campgrounds in the Bellevue area. Families often pair a park day with time at Cedar Point Shores water park or a Lake Erie beach day at East Harbor or Sawmill Creek.
Bellevue itself hosts the Mad River and NKP Railroad Museum, the Historic Lyme Village, and Seneca Caverns just south of town. The Thomas Edison Birthplace in Milan and the Merry-Go-Round Museum in downtown Sandusky work well for rainy afternoons.
On the water, the Jet Express and Miller Ferry run to Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island for day trips, and charter fishing for walleye and perch operates out of Huron and Port Clinton. Cycling is easy on the flat North Coast Inland Trail, which runs directly through Bellevue.

The camping season in north-central Ohio runs primarily from late April through early November, with most private campgrounds closing or reducing services outside that window. Gotta Getaway RV Park, for example, operates on a season roughly from early May through the first weekend of November, and Cedar Point demand tracks a similar calendar.
June through August is peak season. Weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day fill months in advance at Gotta Getaway RV Park, Crystal Rock Campground, and Camp Sandusky, and lakeshore state parks typically sell out reservable inventory soon after the six-month booking window opens. Weekday midsummer stays are easier to secure on short notice.
Spring and fall bring cooler nights and fewer crowds. Fall weekends can be busy during HalloWeekends at Cedar Point and around peak leaf color in mid-October. Winter camping is limited: a few parks stay open for self-contained rigs, but water hookups are shut off once freezing temperatures set in.

How to book a campsite
Private campgrounds around Bellevue, including Gotta Getaway RV Park, Crystal Rock Campground, Camp Sandusky, Leafy Oaks RV Park and Campground, and Kamp Kozy, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and Cedar Point event dates should be booked several months out, and many parks require two- or three-night minimums on holidays.
Ohio State Park campgrounds, including East Harbor and Findley, are reserved through ReserveOhio, with campsite reservations available starting six months prior to the arrival date online at reserveohio.com or by phone at (866) 644-6727. Popular Lake Erie sites go quickly for summer Fridays and Saturdays.
RV renters should confirm rig length, slide-out clearance, and whether a site is back-in or pull-through before booking, and check each campground's pet, generator, and quiet-hours policies.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Bellevue is flat to gently rolling farmland, which makes driving and leveling an RV straightforward. Most private parks offer 30- and 50-amp service, sewer hookups, Wi-Fi of variable quality, and family amenities such as pools, playgrounds, and game rooms. Cell coverage is generally strong across the major carriers.
Grocery runs, propane, dump stations, and RV service are available in Bellevue, Norwalk, and Sandusky. Big-box stores and fuel stops cluster along US-250 and the Ohio Turnpike (I-80/90) exits.
Summer brings mosquitoes near wooded and low-lying sites, so screens and repellent are worth packing. Thunderstorms can move through quickly off Lake Erie, and gusty winds are common in spring and fall. Weekends near Cedar Point see heavy traffic on SR-4 and US-250, so plan arrivals for late morning or after the evening rush.

Class A motorhomes average 7-10 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes typically get 10-14 MPG, campervans (Class B) can stretch to 18-22 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10-14 MPG combined). Ohio gas prices generally run near or just below the national average, and you'll find diesel at the Pilot/Flying J locations near the Ohio Turnpike interchanges around Sandusky. Budget roughly $0.30-$0.50 per mile for fuel in a Class C. Pro tip: top off in Bellevue before heading to Cedar Point, where prices often spike in tourist season.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Bellevue?
For the best sites near Bellevue, book early, especially anything within striking distance of Cedar Point. Ohio State Parks like East Harbor open their reservation window six months in advance through reserveohio.com, and the prime lakefront electric sites for summer weekends often sell out the day they become available. Private parks like Gotta Getaway RV Park and Camp Sandusky also fill up fast for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Cedar Point Halloweekends in October. Aim to book 3-6 months ahead for summer and at least 4-6 weeks ahead for shoulder season. Midweek stays in May, June, and September are much easier to grab, often with same-week availability.
reserveohio.com/OhioCampWeb/What are driving conditions like around Bellevue, Ohio?
You'll love driving an RV around Bellevue: it's mostly flat, gently rural Erie/Huron/Sandusky County terrain with wide rural highways and minimal hills. US-20 cuts straight through town, Ohio Route 4 runs north-south to Sandusky, and the Ohio Turnpike (I-80/90) is just 10 minutes north for longer hauls. Watch for railroad crossings (Bellevue is nicknamed Train Town for its huge Norfolk Southern rail yard), occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on country roads, and lake-effect snow squalls if you're traveling in late fall. Summer thunderstorms can be intense but brief. Cedar Point traffic on Causeway Drive in Sandusky gets congested on summer weekends, so plan arrivals before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

Most Bellevue guests get their full deposit back within a few days of trip end.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great family RV trip itinerary starting from Bellevue?
Bellevue is the perfect launchpad for a classic family RV trip Bellevue itinerary. Day 1: settle in at Gotta Getaway RV Park (minutes from downtown) and tour the underground Seneca Caverns, a constant 54 degrees and a hit with kids. Day 2: drive about 25 minutes north to Cedar Point in Sandusky for roller coasters and Lake Erie beach time. Day 3: head to Marblehead Lighthouse and catch the Miller Ferry to Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island for golf cart adventures. Day 4: step back in time at Historic Lyme Village and the Mad River and NKP Railroad Museum (Bellevue is nicknamed Train Town for good reason). Local tip: grab breakfast in downtown Bellevue before heading out each morning.
