Camping near Darbydale, Ohio
Darbydale is an unincorporated community in Pleasant Township, Franklin County, roughly 14 miles southwest of downtown Columbus on the north side of Big Darby Creek. Its location puts RV travelers within easy reach of central Ohio attractions while keeping the surrounding countryside rural and quiet.
The closest option for RV travelers is Alton RV Park in Galloway, a small, family-owned park just off US Route 40 with full-hookup gravel sites, open year-round. Pastime Park & Campground, operated by the Village of Plain City, sits a short drive north and offers sites inside a larger municipal park with a pool, ball fields, and walking paths.
For a lake-based state park stay, AW Marion State Park near Circleville surrounds 145-acre Hargus Lake. Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware and Jackson Lake Park round out the options, giving campers a mix of resort-style, municipal, and state-park settings within an hour or so of Darbydale.
Things to do around Darbydale
The Big Darby Creek watershed and Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park are the closest natural attractions, with hiking trails, a bison range, and a nature center within a short drive of Darbydale. Downtown Columbus, its zoo, and Zoombezi Bay water park are reachable in under half an hour.
At AW Marion State Park, Hargus Lake is open to hand-powered boats and electric-motor craft, and anglers target largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish. The park has a five-mile shoreline hiking loop, seasonal boat rentals at the marina, and a public launch ramp.

Central Ohio has a humid continental climate with cold winters, warm summers, and precipitation spread fairly evenly through the year. Late spring and early fall generally offer the most comfortable RV weather, while summer brings the busiest weekends and the most humidity.
Ohio state park campgrounds in the region typically run a full season from spring through late fall. AW Marion State Park and Jackson Lake State Park both operate seasonally, with reduced services outside the peak months. Central-Ohio holiday and festival weekends fill state park and municipal sites first, so booking early for summer stays is wise.
Privately operated parks smooth out the shoulders. Alton RV Park is open year-round, and Pastime Park operates through the warm months with heavier demand around Plain City town events. Winter travelers should confirm water availability before booking, since freeze protection varies from park to park.
