The main camping season runs from spring through fall. Many surrounding state and county campgrounds operate on a seasonal calendar rather than year-round; Big Bone Lick's campground, for example, runs from mid-March through mid-November. Private RV parks along the river may stay open longer, though sites near the Ohio River can be affected by winter flooding. Spring brings blooming trees and the wettest months of the year, with May typically the rainiest month, averaging around 127 mm. Storm and severe weather risk rises in late spring and early summer. Summer is warm, humid, and busy, with weekend sites at popular parks filling well in advance; booking eight to twelve weeks out is standard for holiday weekends. Thunderstorms are common in the afternoons. Fall is the most comfortable stretch for RV travel: mild days, cooler nights, lighter crowds, and foliage color through October. Winter is cold, with freezing possible from November through March, and Kentucky State Parks cannot guarantee water availability at campgrounds during months when freezing temperatures are possible.

Campgrounds near Delhi Hills range from urban RV parks to wooded state park loops. Big Bone Lick's campground features 62 campsites with utility hookups, grills, and a playground. Each site has electric and water hookups; there are no sewer hookups, but a dump station is located near the entrance. Showers, restrooms, and laundry facilities are available at a central service building, and some sites require longer water hoses to reach connections. Raccoons frequent the area and have become accustomed to campers, requiring vigilant food storage practices. Cell service can be spotty at riverside sites.
