Campgrounds near Dent, Ohio
Dent is an unincorporated community in Green Township on the west side of Hamilton County, just outside Cincinnati and roughly ten miles from downtown. Its position near I-74 and the I-275 loop makes it a practical base for RV travelers exploring the Ohio River valley, the tri-state corner where Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky meet, and the parks north and east of Cincinnati.
RV renters have a mix of options within a short drive. Cincinnati Campsites and Indian Springs Campground LLP sit closest to Dent, while Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage and Tuckers Landing RV Park extend westward toward the Indiana line. Beyonder Getaway at Rising Sun lies across the river in southeastern Indiana and works well for travelers pairing camping with a stop at the riverboat casino town.
Beyond private RV parks, the surrounding region includes several Ohio state parks with campgrounds, Hamilton County Great Parks facilities such as Winton Woods, and Kentucky and Indiana state park options within an hour's drive.
Things to do near Dent
Cincinnati is the main draw. Families based near Dent can reach the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Newport Aquarium across the river in Kentucky, Kings Island amusement park to the northeast, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center on the downtown riverfront. Great American Ball Park and Paycor Stadium sit along the Ohio River for baseball and football fans.
Outdoor options are close at hand. Mount Airy Forest and Shawnee Lookout offer hiking within Green Township, while East Fork State Park and Stonelick State Park east of the city add lake swimming, fishing, and longer trail systems. Paddlers can put in on the Little Miami River, and the Ohio River Trail provides paved cycling along the water.

The Cincinnati area has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Peak RV season runs from late April through October, with the warmest and busiest stretch falling between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Weekends at popular Ohio state parks fill quickly once summer begins, so early booking is important.
Spring brings green hillsides and active rivers but also the region's wettest months, with May typically the rainiest. Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common and highs frequently in the mid-80s Fahrenheit. Fall is a strong shoulder season: cooler nights, lower humidity, and colorful hardwoods through October make it a favorite for RV travel.
Winter camping is possible but limited. Many Ohio state park campgrounds remain open year-round, though services are reduced and some seasonal campgrounds close between late October and April. Overnight temperatures drop below freezing regularly from December through February, and occasional snow and ice can affect road access.

How to book near Dent
Ohio state park campsites are reserved through the state's central system at reserveohio.com or by phone at (866) 644-6727. Campsite reservations open six months before the arrival date, while cabins open twelve months out. Same-day campsite reservations are allowed. Weekend stays require a two-night minimum, and Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends require three nights.
Private campgrounds near Dent, including Cincinnati Campsites, Indian Springs Campground LLP, Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage, Tuckers Landing RV Park, and Beyonder Getaway at Rising Sun, each set their own booking windows, deposit rules, and cancellation policies. Reserve directly through the campground or through the RV rental platform, and confirm rig length limits, hookup type, and pet rules before arrival.
What to expect near Dent
Private RV parks near Dent typically offer level sites with 30 or 50 amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, along with bathhouses, laundry, and Wi-Fi of varying quality. Riverside and rural properties in the tri-state area lean quieter and more wooded, while parks closer to the interstates trade some seclusion for easier access to Cincinnati attractions.
Ohio state park campgrounds in the region generally provide a parking pad, picnic table, and fire ring at every site, with a mix of electric and non-electric options. Cell coverage is reliable near the city and along major highways but can be spotty in the river valleys and forested pockets west of town.
Summer weekends draw families, so expect busy playgrounds, pools, and boat ramps. Book weeknight stays for a calmer experience.

Interstate trips are encouraged, Dent sits less than 10 miles from both Indiana and Kentucky, so you will likely cross a state line just heading to dinner. Kentucky's Red River Gorge, Indiana's Brown County State Park, and Tennessee's Great Smoky Mountains are all classic routes. Canada trips may be possible with host approval and additional steps, so message the host directly through the listing before booking if that is your plan. One firm rule: travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage does not extend there. Always confirm your route with your host so mileage, border crossings, and protection coverage line up cleanly.

Expect a Class C motorhome to deliver around 8-10 MPG, a campervan rental Dent option closer to 16-20 MPG, and a tow vehicle with travel trailer about 10-12 MPG. Ohio gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, which helps your budget. Dent is one of the easier Cincinnati suburbs to drive an RV in, you've got wide arterials like Harrison Avenue and quick access to I-74 and I-275 without crossing the steep hills closer to downtown. Avoid Columbia Parkway and the Western Hills Viaduct in a tall rig (low-clearance overpasses on some downtown side streets), and skip the narrow Mount Adams streets entirely. Stick to interstates and you'll be golden. Winter brings occasional snow and freezing rain from December to February, so check ODOT's OHGO traffic site before any cold-weather trip. Summer thunderstorms can roll through fast, pull over if winds top 40 mph. Otherwise, the rolling Ohio River Valley terrain is genuinely fun to drive.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Dent%2C%20OhioHow do payment and the security deposit work for an RV rental in Dent, OH?
Payment for your RV rental is handled entirely through RVezy, no cash, no checks, and no awkward driveway transactions. You pay with a credit or debit card at booking, and your funds are processed securely through the platform. A refundable security deposit is placed on your card a few days before pickup (typically $500-$1,500 depending on the rig) and released back to you after the host confirms the RV came home in good shape. To avoid deposit issues: take dated photos at pickup and dropoff, return the RV with the agreed fuel and propane levels, and dump the tanks if your host requires it. The security deposit is separate from your booking payment and fully tracked inside your RVezy account.
