Campgrounds and RV parks near Dublin, OH

Dublin itself is walkable, with the Scioto River, Indian Run Falls, and the Dublin Link pedestrian bridge connecting historic Dublin to Bridge Park. Families often pair a campground stay with a day at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium or COSI science center, both a short drive south. Outdoor time centers on Alum Creek Reservoir, a 3,300-acre lake managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. More than 3,000 feet of sandy beachfront stretches along the west shore of the reservoir, with options to swim, sail, waterski, canoe, kayak, fish, hike, bike, or horseback ride through the maple forests. A four-acre lakeside dog park lets pets cool off with a swim as well. Cyclists can ride the Scioto Trail and the central Ohio greenway network directly from several parks, and anglers fish the Scioto River and Alum Creek for bass, saugeye, and catfish.

Central Ohio has a humid continental climate, characterized by humid, hot summers and cold winters, with no dry season. Precipitation is spread relatively evenly through the year, though summers trend wetter with frequent thunderstorms. That pattern shapes when and where RVers camp. Peak season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when public parks fill first on weekends and holidays. Summer days average in the mid 80s Fahrenheit with regular afternoon thunderstorms, so shaded sites and full hookups with air conditioning are worth targeting early. Spring brings mud and variable temperatures but good fishing and fewer crowds; fall delivers cool nights, color along the Scioto, and easier reservations after schools reopen. Winter camping is limited. Alum Creek State Park runs an off-peak period from November 1 to April 15, with Area 2 and specific rows in the A, B, and G loops available, sewer but no water at full hook-up sites, and restrooms closed. Private parks in the region often close or cut services entirely during the coldest months.

Sites around Dublin range from tight private-park pads with 30- and 50-amp service to larger state-park sites with a mix of wooded and open pull-through and back-in layouts. At Alum Creek, 286 electric campsites offer both wooded and sunny areas, some overlooking the lake, and each site has 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electrical hookup. Amenities include heated shower facilities with flush toilets, a dump station, and a beach and boat ramp for exclusive use of campers. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the region, and campers can also benefit from free wifi at Alum Creek. Expect flat to gently rolling terrain, mixed hardwood shade, and mosquitoes in mid-summer near the reservoir. Pets are welcome on all sites at Alum Creek and at most private parks in the area. All camping units must be backed in, and no person under the age of 18 may camp unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
