Campgrounds and RV parks near Elmore, OH

Elmore sits in Ottawa County in northwest Ohio, roughly 25 miles southeast of Toledo and within a short drive of the Lake Erie shoreline. The village makes a practical base for RV travelers heading to the western Lake Erie islands, the Sandusky Bay corridor, or the marshes and beaches along the state's north coast. Flat terrain, straightforward interstate access via the Ohio Turnpike and State Route 2, and a mix of private RV parks and state park campgrounds define the area. Close-in options include Camp Sabroske and Paradise Acres Camp Grounds, both small private grounds that suit shorter stays. Portageview RV & MH Resort offers longer-term style sites along the Portage River corridor. For a more amenity-heavy stop near the interstate, Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA Journey provides pull-through sites and standard KOA services. For state-park camping with lake access, Maumee Bay State Park lies northwest of Elmore on the Lake Erie shoreline near Oregon, Ohio, and offers electric and full-hookup sites, a beach, and trails through coastal wetlands.

Maumee Bay State Park campsites are reserved through the Ohio State Parks system at reserveohio.com or by calling (866) 644-6727. Sites can be booked up to six months in advance of arrival, and popular summer weekends, especially those tied to holidays or birding events, are typically claimed the day the window opens. A site-specific booking is required rather than a first-come assignment. Private campgrounds including Camp Sabroske, Paradise Acres Camp Grounds, and Portageview RV & MH Resort take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA Journey uses the KOA reservation platform and app. For May migration weekends and the July and August peak, booking two to three months out is advisable at any of these grounds.
