The location makes it a practical base for RV travelers who want quick access to the Ohio River valley, the Whitewater River corridor, and the tri-state region where Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky meet. Interstate 74 runs along the town's southern edge, keeping most nearby campgrounds within an easy drive.
Camping near Harrison includes sites with varied terrain, from flat campgrounds directly in Harrison to more rustic options within a 30-minute drive, with the region sitting at elevations between roughly 500 and 900 feet. Full-hookup RV parks, county park campgrounds, and private lakeside resorts all operate within a short radius.
Close options include Indian Springs Campground LLP in nearby North Bend, Camp Shore Campground across the river in Aurora, Indiana, Franklin County Park, and Beyonder Getaway at Rising Sun. Together they cover the range from big-rig pull-throughs to quieter, more primitive sites.
Things to do near Harrison

The area follows a classic Ohio Valley pattern. Winters are cold and damp with periodic snow and ice, and many private campgrounds in the region shift to limited operations between roughly November and early March, when water hookups are often shut off to prevent freezing.
Spring brings variable weather, river-level swings, and greening trails. It is a quieter time to book, but campers should watch for severe thunderstorms and occasional flooding along the Whitewater and Ohio Rivers. Late spring through early fall offers the most comfortable camping conditions, with summer daytime highs commonly in the mid-80s Fahrenheit and spring nights often dipping into the 40s and 50s.
Summer is peak season. Humidity is high, afternoon thunderstorms are common, and weekend sites at popular county and private parks fill weeks in advance around Independence Day and Labor Day. Fall through mid-October brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and the region's best foliage window.

How to book a campsite near Harrison
Reservation systems vary by operator. Great Parks of Hamilton County campgrounds, including Miami Whitewater Forest just outside Harrison, are booked through the Great Parks reservations portal, with a booking window that opens up to one year in advance for peak holiday weekends. Indiana state park campgrounds in the surrounding region use the Camp.IN.gov reservation system, with a rolling six-month booking window.
Private operators such as Indian Springs Campground LLP, Camp Shore Campground, and the Beyonder Getaway property at Rising Sun handle bookings directly through their own websites or phone lines. Indian Springs has 60 lakeside-focused sites, accepts big rigs and pop-ups but no tents, and offers daily, weekly, and monthly stays. Book summer holiday weekends as early as possible.
What to expect on-site
Sites near Harrison range from full-hookup lakeside pads to more primitive options. Typical amenities at a full-service park such as Indian Springs Campground LLP include level pull-throughs up to 80 feet, lakefront sites, 20/30/50-amp service, water, sewer, WiFi, two dump stations, a bath house and laundry, plus fishing on a 16-acre lake, row boats and pedal boats, a walking trail, playground, and game room. County park campgrounds in the region tend to offer electric and water hookups with centralized dump stations rather than sewer at each site.
More rustic options in the area offer basic sites with picnic tables and fire rings but limited or no showers. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the tri-state corridor, though wooded valley sites can drop to one or two bars.

weather.gov/iln/I've never rented an RV before. Will I know how to use it?
Yes, and you're in great company: first time renting an RV is one of the most common scenarios on RVezy. Every host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup (or at your delivery location), walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water systems, propane, leveling, and dump procedures. You'll leave knowing exactly which button does what. Many hosts also send video walkthroughs in advance and stay just a text away during your trip. Pair that with 24/7 roadside assistance and the RVezy support team, and you've got a safety net the whole way. Pro tip: book a 3 to 4 night first trip to a close campground like Miami Whitewater Forest so you can ease in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I break down during my Harrison RV trip?

The service covers common issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. You can also message your host directly from the app, they know their RV inside and out and can troubleshoot quickly. RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: snap a photo of the RV's fuse panel and propane shut-off at pickup so you can text questions easily if needed.

Yes, interstate travel is part of the fun of renting in Harrison, since you're right on the Indiana border and just minutes from Kentucky. Many guests do loop trips through Indiana, Kentucky's Bluegrass region, or up to Michigan's lakeshores. Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval and additional documentation, so message the host before booking if Canada is on your list. Important: travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: a 3-state weekend (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky) from Harrison is easy and adds a fun stamp to your trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much will fuel cost on my Harrison RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable in your budget, and Harrison is a great launching point because gas prices in Hamilton County typically run near or slightly below the national average. Expect roughly 7 to 10 MPG for a Class C motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a truck pulling a travel trailer, and 18 to 22 MPG for a Class B campervan rental that Harrison guests often choose for fuel efficiency. For a typical 300-mile weekend loop around southwest Ohio, budget roughly $100 to $160 in fuel. Pro tip: compare prices in Indiana just across the state line on US-52, where fuel taxes are sometimes a few cents lower than in Ohio.

For the best sites, aim to book Ohio State Park campgrounds 3 to 6 months ahead, especially for holiday weekends. Ohio uses the ReserveOhio system for state parks like East Fork, Hueston Woods, and Caesar Creek, while Hamilton County's Great Parks (Miami Whitewater Forest and Winton Woods) book through their own portal up to 6 months in advance. Indiana's Whitewater Memorial State Park books through camp.IN.gov. Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day weekends fill within hours of opening. Pro tip: if you strike out on a Saturday, try a Sunday-to-Thursday trip, you'll often score the best lakeside sites at Miami Whitewater Forest with no competition.
