Campgrounds and RV parks near Logan Elm Village, OH

Fishing and paddling anchor most trips. Hargus Lake at AW Marion State Park is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish, and allows hand-powered craft and boats with electric motors. Walnut Creek Campground and Resort adds swimming, boat rentals, and family activities on a private lake. Hiking is strong across the region. Great Seal State Park has multi-use trails climbing Sugarloaf Mountain with views over the Scioto Valley, and Ross Hollow at Tar Hollow State Park connects to the 21-mile Logan Trail, the Ross Hollow loop, and a section of the Buckeye Trail. Families with kids often add the Pine Lake beach and public swimming pool at Tar Hollow, the sandy beach and boating on Jackson Lake, or a day trip east to the Hocking Hills for Old Man's Cave and Rock House.

The Ohio state park camping season generally runs from late March or early April through early November. AW Marion State Park follows this pattern, and Jackson Lake State Park is open seasonally through the warmer months, with reservations handled through ReserveOhio. Great Seal State Park stays open longer but closes during January and February. Some private parks in the area also reduce services during the coldest months, so it is worth confirming operating dates before booking a shoulder-season trip. Spring brings wildflowers, warblers and thrushes on migration, and the wettest stretch of the year in late spring and early summer. Summer is peak season for swimming, boating, and family camping, with warm, humid days and afternoon thunderstorms common across central and southern Ohio. Fall is a favourite for hardwood colour across the ridges around Tar Hollow and Great Seal, with cooler nights and generally lower precipitation. Winter camping is limited: most state park campgrounds in the area close, though a handful of private parks and year-round sites remain available for cold-weather RVing.

Expect a mix of state park simplicity and private-resort amenities. AW Marion has 58 sites with 29 electric hookups, flush restrooms, vault latrines, a dump station, playground, ball courts, an amphitheater, and a camp store, but no shower house. Great Seal is primitive, with 15 non-electric sites, pressurized water, vault latrines, and a shelterhouse, and pets are permitted on all sites. Ross Hollow at Tar Hollow State Park offers paved electric sites in a forested hollow, with a shower house, camp store, and access to Pine Lake's beach and a seasonal public pool. Jackson Lake State Park has 34 electric sites with 50-amp service, vault toilets, potable water, and a dump station. Walnut Creek leans toward the resort side with hookups, cabins, and organized activities. Cell coverage is inconsistent in the forested hollows around Tar Hollow, so download maps and reservations before arriving.
