Marysville sits in Union County in central Ohio, roughly 30 miles northwest of Columbus, and gives RV renters a convenient base for a mix of municipal, state, and private campgrounds. The nearest option is Pastime Park & Campground in Plain City, a village-owned park with grass, gravel, and full-hookup sites arranged in a small-town setting.
For lake-based camping, two Ohio State Parks are within easy driving distance: Delaware State Park to the east on Delaware Lake, and Alum Creek State Park further east on the larger Alum Creek Reservoir. Both parks are operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and reserved through ReserveOhio.
RV renters looking for a resort-style stay with a pool and organized activities closer to Columbus attractions typically choose Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, located near Alum Creek State Park. Alton RV Park serves travelers who want to stay closer to the west side of Columbus with easy interstate access.
Things to do near Marysville
Water recreation drives most trips in this area. Alum Creek Reservoir covers about 3,387 acres and permits unlimited-horsepower boating, water skiing, and swimming at Ohio's largest inland state park beach. Delaware Lake spans roughly 1,300 acres and also allows unlimited-horsepower boating, with a marina, multiple ramps, and fishing for crappie, catfish, and largemouth and smallmouth bass.
On land, Alum Creek State Park offers hiking, mountain biking, and bridle trails, plus a four-acre lakeside dog park with a dog swim beach. Delaware State Park adds a 27-hole disc golf course at the Sweet Gum picnic area and a 9-hole course in the campground.
Families often pair camping with day trips to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and downtown Columbus attractions. Plain City's Heritage Trail offers a paved 6.1-mile rail-trail for walking, biking, and inline skating.

The primary Ohio State Park camping season runs from spring through fall, when campground loops, restrooms, and beaches operate normally. Summer weekends, especially Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, book out well ahead at Alum Creek, Delaware, and Cross Creek. Pastime Park & Campground operates on a defined seasonal schedule, opening April 1 and closing October 31.
Spring brings frequent rain, saturated ground, and thunderstorm activity in central Ohio, and trails can be muddy after storms. Fall is often the most comfortable time to camp, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color through October. Waterfowl hunting is popular at Delaware State Park, with duck blinds issued by lottery drawing, so campers should plan around designated hunting areas.
Winter camping is limited. Alum Creek State Park operates a scaled-back off-peak season from November 1 through April 15 with reduced areas open, sewer but no water at full-hookup sites, and closed restrooms. Snow, ice, and freezing overnight temperatures are typical from December through February.

Booking and how to reserve
Ohio State Parks, including Delaware State Park and Alum Creek State Park, are reserved through ReserveOhio.com or by phone at 1-866-644-6727. Sites can be booked up to six months in advance, and no walk-ins are offered. Prime summer weekends and lakeside loops at Alum Creek fill quickly, so book as early as the six-month window opens if flexibility is limited.
Pastime Park & Campground takes reservations directly through the Village of Plain City. Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day weekend, and Labor Day weekend require a three-night minimum, and arrivals or departures are blocked on select event dates.
Cross Creek Camping Resort and Alton RV Park are privately operated and booked through each operator's own website. Cabin inventory at Alum Creek and cabin or deluxe rental units at Cross Creek are limited, so reserve well in advance for peak season.
What to expect at Marysville-area campgrounds
State park campgrounds in this area are large, heavily wooded, and family-oriented. Delaware State Park Campground has 214 electric sites, including four with ADA features, with flush toilets, showers, laundry, and a dump station. Alum Creek offers 286 electric sites with 20-, 30-, and 50-amp service, plus a small number of full-hookup sites and four Sherman Cabins.
Expect crowded weekends, active playgrounds, and shared beaches at both state parks. Sites at Pastime Park & Campground are shaded by mature oaks but spaced tightly, and sites at Cross Creek are close together with pool and activity access.
Check-in at the state parks is 3 p.m. and check-out is 1 p.m. for campsites. Pets are allowed at all sites in both state parks, quiet hours run 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Ohio does not charge state park entrance fees. A valid Ohio fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older.

Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets a consistent cancellation policy across all listings, with a money-back grace period right after you book. RVezy also factors in extraordinary circumstances like severe storms or natural disasters. The same framework applies platform-wide, so you will not find different policies hidden in individual listings. Use the Delivery filter when browsing to see hosts offering this service. Delivery fees are set per host and usually scale with distance, but for a stress-free family RV trip it is often worth it.

weather.gov/iln/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Marysville a good idea?
Marysville is one of the friendlier places in Ohio for first time renting an RV. The mix of flat farmland, wide rural roads off US-33 and State Route 31, and easy access to suburban campgrounds means you can build confidence before tackling anything bigger. Every RVezy host provides an in-person walkthrough at pickup, covering driving tips, leveling, water systems, the propane stove, and the dump process. You can also message the host with any questions before booking. If driving in Columbus feels intimidating, book delivery and skip driving altogether. Start with a Class B campervan or small Class C and you will feel comfortable quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002180994-For-RentersWhat if I break down or have trouble on the road?
You are not alone out there. Every RV rental in Marysville booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If something more complex comes up, RVezy support is reachable around the clock and your host is just a message away for quick fixes like a tripped breaker or a stuck slide-out. Save both contacts in your phone before pickup. With Columbus only about 35 minutes south on US-33, you are also close to major service centers and parts if anything mechanical needs attention.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat are popular road trips and routes from Marysville?
Marysville is a great launchpad for an RV road trip thanks to its location near US-33, US-36, and I-70. Favorite routes include heading southeast to Hocking Hills for waterfalls and cliff hikes (about 75 miles), north to Lake Erie and Cedar Point (about 115 miles), east to Amish Country around Berlin and Millersburg (about 110 miles), and northeast to Cuyahoga Valley National Park (about 140 miles). Longer runs to Mammoth Cave, Kentucky (about 290 miles) or Niagara Falls (about 320 miles) are also doable. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I expect and how do I budget for gas?
Fuel is usually the second-biggest line item on an RV trip, so it pays to plan. Class B campervans rented in Marysville typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes land around 8 to 12 MPG, and a truck towing a travel trailer averages 10 to 14 MPG. Ohio gas prices generally track close to the national average, and Marysville has Speedway, Sheetz, and Kroger Fuel locations along US-33 that are often cheaper than highway service plazas. Tip: use GasBuddy and top off in town before heading toward Hocking Hills, where rural prices tend to climb.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Marysville?
Book sooner rather than later, especially for Ohio State Park campgrounds, which are the most popular options around Marysville. Alum Creek, Delaware, and Indian Lake State Parks open reservations six months in advance through the official ODNR reservation portal, and prime summer weekends and October leaf-peeping dates often fill quickly. Private parks like Pastime Park Campground generally take reservations 3 to 6 months ahead and are a bit more flexible. Insider tip: midweek Sunday-through-Wednesday stays are often wide open even in July, making them perfect for a low-stress family RV trip in Marysville.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/reserve-a-place-to-stayWhat are local driving conditions like around Marysville?
Driving conditions around Marysville are some of the easiest in Ohio for new RVers. The town sits in flat, open farmland along US-33, a four-lane divided highway that connects to Columbus in about 35 minutes. Roads are well-maintained and there are no mountain passes, tight switchbacks, or low-clearance tunnels to worry about. Summer can bring strong afternoon thunderstorms, so check the National Weather Service Wilmington forecast before driving. Winter can bring snow squalls and icy patches between December and February, so plan trips for May through October if you would rather skip winter driving. Avoid downtown Columbus during weekday rush hour for the smoothest travel.

Most campgrounds near Marysville come well-equipped. Ohio State Parks like Alum Creek and Delaware offer electric hookups (typically 30 or 50 amp), centralized bathhouses with showers, drinking water, and onsite dump stations for registered campers. Private parks such as Pastime Park Campground add full hookups (water, sewer, electric), laundry, camp stores, and Wi-Fi. Need to dump or refill water on the road? Many Love's and Pilot Flying J truck stops along I-70 and US-33 have RV dump lanes, and several Ohio Turnpike service plazas also offer RV dump and water services. Always confirm hookup amperage when booking your site.

Many rigs include a TV, onboard generator, solar, Wi-Fi hotspot, or backup camera. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer similar interiors but are towed. Popular extras include kitchen and linen kits, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, generators, bike racks, BBQs, portable Wi-Fi hotspots, and extra mileage packages. Pickup is usually at the host's home or an agreed meeting spot in or near Marysville, with the orientation walkthrough taking 30 to 60 minutes. Many hosts also accept event bookings for the Ohio State Fair in Columbus or the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Marysville,%20OhioHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure when you rent an RV in Marysville through RVezy. You pay online with a credit or debit card at the time of booking, with the total clearly itemized: nightly rate, host fees, protection plan, RVezy service fee, and any add-ons. A security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup and released after the trip ends, assuming no damage or extra cleaning is required. Deposit amounts vary by RV and the protection tier you choose. Tip: take a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, this is the single best way to keep your deposit return smooth and stress-free.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV in Marysville overnight outside of campgrounds?
Knowing where to park an RV in Marysville keeps your trip smooth. The City of Marysville generally allows residents to store RVs to the rear or side of a home behind the front setback line, with front-yard parking limited to short loading or unloading windows. For travelers passing through, Ohio rest areas allow you to rest in your vehicle to safely continue driving, but they are not for camping setup with slideouts or awnings. For full hookups overnight, several Ohio Turnpike service plazas offer designated RV spots with electric, water, and dump access, first-come, first-served. Always confirm current rules before relying on overnight parking.
