Campgrounds and RV parks near Miami Heights, OH

Outdoor recreation centers on Miami Whitewater Forest, the largest park in Great Parks of Hamilton County at 4,345 acres, which includes the 7.8-mile paved Shaker Trace Trail, a golf course, horseback riding, and a campground. The park's 85-acre lake offers kayak, canoe, paddleboat, and rowboat rentals, plus shore and boat fishing. The Ohio River itself is the region's main draw. Indian Springs Campground LLP has a walking trail and pedal boat rentals on its 16-acre lake, while Camp Shore Campground has a boat ramp and direct river access for boaters. Cincinnati attractions sit within a short drive: the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, Great American Ball Park, Kings Island amusement park, and the Newport Aquarium across the river in Kentucky. Families visiting the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in northern Kentucky often base themselves at campgrounds in this corridor.

Peak camping season in southwest Ohio runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with weekends and holidays filling first at both private and county-park campgrounds. Reservations are strongly recommended at most campgrounds in the region, particularly during summer weekends and holidays, and Great Parks of Hamilton County allows booking the Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends up to one year in advance of the Friday of those holiday weekends. Spring and fall are the shoulder seasons. May is the wettest month of the year in the Cincinnati area, while September and October deliver cool nights, lower humidity, and fall color along the river corridor. Summers are humid with temperatures regularly reaching the 90s, and winters are cold enough to limit comfortable camping without proper gear. Winter camping options are limited. Indian Springs Campground LLP is open year-round, while Camp Shore Campground operates roughly May through early November and Miami Whitewater Forest Campground runs from March into December. Confirm operating dates before booking outside the core April to October window.

Expect a mix of full-hookup private parks and simpler electric-only public sites. Indian Springs Campground LLP offers 60 lakeside sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp service, water, and sewer, along with a dump station, bath house, laundry, a 16-acre fishing lake, rowboat and pedal boat rentals, a walking trail, playground, and game room. Tent camping is not permitted there. Miami Whitewater Forest Campground is more rustic. Sites are arranged in a wooded loop with 30-amp electric hookups, each with a fire ring and picnic table, served by a renovated shower building with flush toilets and hot showers, plus a playground and dump station within the campground. Cell coverage is generally good across the corridor, and I-74 and I-275 keep grocery stores, fuel, and dump stations within a short drive of every campground on this list.
