Campgrounds and RV parks near Neffs, OH

Barkcamp State Park anchors most outdoor plans. The park offers boating with electric motors only, kayak rentals, swimming, fishing, hunting, picnicking, and hiking. Anglers target bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and saugeye, and a 700-foot beach draws swimmers in summer. The park also has accessible fishing piers and a launch ramp on Belmont Lake. At Grand Vue Park, families can add zip lines, disc golf, mini golf, and a swimming pool to the itinerary, along with hiking trails and overlooks facing the Ohio Valley. The park is within easy reach of Moundsville and the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex. Wheeling adds urban amenities, including riverfront paths and the Oglebay resort just north of town.

The prime RV window in eastern Ohio runs from late spring through mid-fall. Summer brings warm, humid days and reliably open facilities at every campground in the area. Spring is greener and less crowded, though rainfall picks up in May and June and unpaved sites can stay soft. Fall is a strong choice for shoulder-season travel. Foliage in the Appalachian foothills typically peaks from mid-October into late October, and cooler nights make campfires comfortable. Some park systems reduce services once temperatures drop. At Barkcamp, hot showers and the dump station close during the winter months, while electric service remains available year-round. Winter camping is possible but limited. Grand Vue keeps a reduced footprint from December 1 to April 1, with only one bathhouse available and a minimal number of sites open for rental. Hunting seasons also affect access at Barkcamp, where hunting is permitted October 15 through February 28 in designated areas.

Expect hilly, wooded terrain and winding two-lane approaches once off I-70. Sites in the region tend to be back-in rather than pull-through. At Barkcamp, RV campsites have a 10-foot-wide cement pad, some accommodate rigs up to 80 feet, and all sites are back-in. Grand Vue sites are back-in with 50 feet for the RV (Site 23 is 38 feet), plus a 12-foot tow-vehicle space and a firepit and picnic area. Pets are generally welcome with restrictions. Leashed dogs are allowed at Barkcamp on most trails but only in designated campsites, and they are prohibited at swimming areas. Cell coverage is workable but can drop in the hollows. Bring leveling blocks, and top off water and propane in Wheeling or St. Clairsville before heading to smaller private parks.
