Campgrounds near New London, Ohio
New London sits in Huron County in north-central Ohio, within easy driving distance of Lake Erie, the Sandusky attractions corridor, and the wooded parkland south of Cleveland. The area suits RV travelers who want a quieter rural base while staying close to family destinations, state park lakes, and Amish Country to the south.
Campground options around New London cover the full range. Findley State Park offers a traditional state-park stay with a lake and hundreds of sites, while private resorts like Cleveland/Sandusky Jellystone Park, Claremar Twin Lakes Camping Resort, and Rustic Lakes Campgrounds Inc lean toward full-hookup RV sites and activity-heavy family stays. Freedom Valley Gay Campground provides an adults-oriented alternative in the same rural belt.
Most parks in the area are seasonal, opening in spring and closing in mid to late fall. Nearby state routes and the Ohio Turnpike make it straightforward to arrive by RV from Cleveland, Toledo, Columbus, or points east.
Things to do near New London
Findley State Park anchors outdoor recreation in the area. The 838-acre park is built around a 93-acre lake open to paddlecraft and electric-motor boating, and it includes an 18-hole disc golf course. A trail network connects to the statewide Buckeye Trail, and a 435-foot swimming beach sits along the lake. Canoes, rowboats, and kayaks can be rented at the marina, and a valid Ohio license is required for fishing.
Families with kids often base at Cleveland/Sandusky Jellystone Park for its resort pool, water play features, jump pillow, gem mining, and themed weekends. Day trips from New London reach Cedar Point in Sandusky, Lake Erie beaches, and the shops and restaurants in Wellington, Oberlin, and Amish communities to the south.

The main camping season in north-central Ohio runs from late April through October. Cleveland/Sandusky Jellystone Park treats Memorial Day through Labor Day as peak season, with shoulder weekends on either side, and its water attractions typically operate between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Findley State Park is open year-round for day use, but the campground and nature-center programming run seasonally, with scheduled programs generally offered spring through fall.
Summer brings the warmest temperatures, the busiest campgrounds, and the fullest slate of family activities. Weekends around Independence Day and Labor Day book out first, so early reservations matter for full-hookup sites.
Spring and early fall are quieter and cooler, with better site availability and comfortable hiking weather. Winter camping options are limited in the area, and lake-effect snow from Lake Erie can affect travel.

How to book near New London
Findley State Park uses the Ohio State Parks reservation system through ReserveOhio. Reservations can be made online at reserveohio.com or through the reservation call center at (866) 644-6727, open 7am to 7pm daily, and campsite reservations open six months prior to the desired arrival date. Full-hookup sites are limited and go quickly for summer weekends, so booking early and having alternate site numbers ready helps.
Private parks like Cleveland/Sandusky Jellystone Park, Claremar Twin Lakes Camping Resort, Rustic Lakes Campgrounds Inc, and Freedom Valley Gay Campground handle reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines. Holiday weekends and themed event weekends at the Jellystone location can fill months ahead, so confirm site type, amp service, and check-in windows at time of booking.
What to expect near New London

Findley State Park offers electric and non-electric sites with showers, flush toilets, laundry facilities, a dump station, a game room, and a fully stocked camp store, and pets are permitted on all sites. Cellular coverage is generally reliable across Huron and Lorain counties, and most parks offer Wi-Fi near central buildings.
Roads are rural but paved and RV-friendly. Grocery, fuel, and propane are available in Wellington, Norwalk, and New London itself.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near New London, OH
How much does it cost to rent an RV in New London, OH?
Renting an RV in New London is one of the most affordable ways to explore north-central Ohio, with most RVezy rentals landing between $95 and $225 per night depending on the rig. Travel trailers and pop-ups sit at the lower end, while Class C motorhomes and larger fifth wheels run higher. Many hosts in Huron County offer weekly or multi-night discounts that show up right in the listing total. To score a cheap RV rental in New London, book midweek, travel in May or September around Findley State Park's shoulder season, and filter by travel trailers that hosts can deliver and set up for you. Pro tip: bundling delivery with a 3-night stay often costs less than driving the rig yourself.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20London%2C%20OhioDo I need a special license to rent an RV in New London, Ohio?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in New London for the vast majority of rigs on RVezy. Ohio does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for recreational vehicles operated for personal use, which covers nearly every campervan, travel trailer, and Class C motorhome on the platform. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and your ID is verified right inside the booking flow. Visiting from abroad? Pick up an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home auto club before flying in. Most first-time renters are surprised how quickly the paperwork wraps up.

Every RV rental in New London, OH booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit Route 250 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the vehicle and provides a financial safety net that goes beyond a host's personal coverage. During checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, so you control your own comfort zone. Protection plans vary by coverage tier, and details for each level are spelled out before you confirm. It's the layer that lets first-timers relax and focus on the fun stuff, like watching the sun set over Findley Lake.

You're not locked in the moment you book. RVezy, not the host, sets the cancellation policy for every rental in New London, and it includes a grace period right after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, the refund amount depends on how close you are to your trip start date. Cancellation policy details aren't displayed on individual listings because they're handled at the RVezy level, which keeps things consistent across every booking. If a host has to cancel, you'll receive a refund or travel credit. Book the RV you love now, and if life changes, our support team is one message away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in New London?
Absolutely, and your pup will love it. Many hosts offer pet-friendly RV rentals in New London, and you can find them in seconds by tapping the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy. Once you're on the road, Findley State Park welcomes leashed pets at designated pet camping areas, and the trails through its hardwood forest are made for happy sniffing. New London Reservoir Park & Campground also allows pets, so evenings get extra cozy. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee, then pack a long lead so your dog can lounge outside while you grill dinner.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/findley-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground in New London?
Yes, RV delivery in New London is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you've never towed before. Many RVezy hosts will drive the rig to Findley State Park, New London Reservoir Park, or even your driveway, level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter on the search page to see hosts who offer this service and their per-mile delivery fee. Pro tip: pair delivery with a stationary stay at a full-hookup site so the only thing you need to drive is your own car to the swimming beach.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20London%2C%20OhioHow far can I drive on a New London RV trip?
You can roam comfortably. New London sits in a sweet spot in Huron County, putting you within a tank of fuel of just about every iconic Ohio destination. Cedar Point in Sandusky is about 40 miles north, Cleveland is roughly 65 miles northeast, Mohican State Park is about 45 miles south, and Amish Country around Berlin is roughly 55 miles southeast. Most hosts include a daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 miles) and charge a small per-mile fee after that, and some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer adventures. Check the listing's mileage policy before booking, and if you're planning a Lake Erie loop, message the host for a flat-rate package.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20London%2C%20OhioWhere are the best campgrounds near New London, OH?
You're spoiled for choice. Findley State Park Campground, just north near Wellington, is the local favorite with full-hookup and electric sites, a 93-acre lake, and miles of trails connecting to the Buckeye Trail system. New London Reservoir Park & Campground is right in town on a quiet fishing lake and is typically open from spring through fall. Claremar Twin Lakes Camping Resort, off New London Eastern Road, offers a family-friendly setting with a lake and activities. For a drive west, East Harbor State Park on Lake Erie gives you sunset beach views. Book Findley up to six months out at reserveohio.com, since summer weekends sell out fast.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/findley-state-parkWhen is the best time to visit New London, OH in an RV?
Late May through early October is prime time for RV camping in New London, with daytime highs typically from 70 to 85°F and warm evenings. June and September are the local sweet spots: campgrounds are open, bugs are manageable, and you'll dodge the peak July humidity. Fall foliage usually peaks in mid to late October, when the maples around Findley Lake turn red and gold and shoulder-season RV rental rates dip noticeably. Winters are cold (often in the 20s and 30s°F with lake-effect snow) and most public campgrounds close after mid-October, but a few hosts list four-season rigs with furnaces for cozy off-season getaways. Pro tip: lock in Memorial Day or Labor Day weekends 3-4 months ahead.
weather.gov/cle/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay?
You're going to be great. First time renting an RV in New London is easier than you'd guess because every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, and dump procedures. You can message the host as many questions as you like before booking, right from the listing page. New London's flat farmland roads (think OH-60 and US-250) are an ideal place to get comfortable behind the wheel before heading toward Cleveland or Sandusky. Many guests choose a Class C motorhome or travel trailer with delivery so the rig is already parked and level when they arrive. Confidence builds fast once you're on-site.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on US-250 or a dead battery at Findley State Park is a one-phone-call fix. You can also message your host directly through the RVezy app for quick troubleshooting on quirks specific to their rig (sometimes it's just a tripped breaker). RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip if something bigger comes up. Pro tip: snap a photo of the host's walkthrough notes at pickup so you have a quick reference for things like the water pump switch or awning lock.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trip routes from New London, OH?
An RV road trip from New London opens up some of the Midwest's best scenery. Head about 40 miles north to Cedar Point and the Lake Erie Islands for beach camping and ferry rides to Put-in-Bay. Drive about 45 miles south for the hardwood hills and covered bridges of Mohican State Park. Or roll roughly 55 miles southeast into Amish Country around Berlin and Walnut Creek for cheese trails and quilt shops. Cross-state trips into Pennsylvania (Pymatuning State Park) or Michigan (Sleeping Bear Dunes, around 5-6 hours) are also popular. Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host's policy, so message them first. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/mohican-state-parkWhat kind of fuel mileage should I budget for my New London RV trip?
Budgeting fuel is straightforward in Ohio. Expect roughly 8-10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class C motorhome, 6-8 MPG for a Class A, and 12-18 MPG for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Ohio gas prices typically run close to the national average, with stations along US-250 and I-71 near New London among the most competitive. For a 200-mile round trip from New London to Cedar Point and back, plan on roughly $70-$100 in fuel for a mid-size motorhome. Pro tip: fuel up in New London or Norwalk before heading to Cedar Point, since Sandusky prices can jump in peak summer. The GasBuddy app pairs perfectly with your trip planner.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near New London?
For peak summer weekends, book 3-6 months ahead, especially for Findley State Park, which opens its reservation window six months out through reserveohio.com (the official Ohio State Parks system) or by calling 1-866-644-6727. Full-hookup sites and lakeside spots can disappear quickly when Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends release. New London Reservoir Park, Claremar Twin Lakes, and other private parks usually have more availability and accept reservations directly. Midweek stays are far easier to grab last-minute. Pro tip: if you strike out on Findley, set a cancellation alert and a same-week spot will often open up as plans shift.
reserveohio.com/What are driving conditions like around New London?
New London driving is friendly to RVs. The town sits on the flat-to-rolling glacial plain of Huron County with quiet two-lane state routes (OH-60, OH-162, US-224) that make for stress-free practice miles. I-71 (about 10 miles east) and the Ohio Turnpike I-80/90 (about 25 miles north) handle longer hauls north to Cleveland or south to Columbus. Watch for occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on rural routes east of town, lake-effect snow squalls from late November through March, and summer thunderstorms that can roll in quickly off Lake Erie. Posted bridges on county roads are rare but worth noting if you're in a larger Class A. Cell service is solid across the area.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/travel-informationWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near New London?
Local campgrounds are well equipped for a comfortable stay. Findley State Park offers electric, water, and sewer hookups at its full-service sites, plus a dump station, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry, a camp store, and good cell coverage throughout. New London Reservoir Park has full-hookup sites and a shower house. Claremar Twin Lakes provides full hookups and a pool. For dump and fresh water on the road, Findley's dump station is open to registered campers, and many Pilot/Flying J stations along I-71 offer dumps for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground; rural fill spots are limited.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/findley-state-parkWhat features and amenities do RVs in New London typically include?
Most motorhome rentals in New London come surprisingly well stocked. Expect a full kitchen with stove, microwave, fridge and sink; a bathroom with shower and toilet; a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette or bunks; air conditioning, furnace, and a TV. Class C and travel trailer rentals usually sleep 4-6, while larger fifth wheels and Class A rigs sleep 6-8 comfortably with seatbelts for travel. Many hosts include a generator, outdoor speakers, or Wi-Fi hotspots as add-ons. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and scroll the photos to confirm bed configuration. Message the host if you need specifics like a CPAP outlet or extra fridge space.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20London%2C%20OhioWhat add-ons and options can I get with my New London RV rental?
Hosts in New London offer popular add-ons to make your campervan rental in New London turn-key: linen and towel kits, camp chairs and outdoor rugs, bike racks, generators, Wi-Fi hotspots, and full kitchen kits with pots, pans, and coffee makers. Delivery and setup to Findley State Park or other local campgrounds is one of the most loved add-ons, with fees usually based on distance. Pickup and dropoff are typically at the host's property in or near New London, with a 30-60 minute walkthrough built in. Mileage policies vary by listing, so check the listing details and message the host for any custom package, like a stocked propane tank.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20London%2C%20OhioHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit card when you book, never directly to the host, which keeps your money protected. A refundable security deposit is placed as a separate hold on your card before pickup and released after dropoff, assuming the RV comes back in the same shape it left. The exact deposit amount varies by listing and is shown before you confirm the booking. To avoid issues, do a thorough video walkaround with the host at both pickup and return, and follow the mileage and generator-hour policies in your listing. Easy in, easy out.
