Campgrounds and RV parks near Owensville, OH

Water recreation anchors most trips. The 2,160-acre William H. Harsha Lake at East Fork offers unlimited horsepower boating, with seven launch ramps providing access, and the lake supports largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and channel catfish. Stonelick Lake permits electric motors only, has two launch ramps, and offers kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals. On land, East Fork maintains a 33-mile perimeter trail plus additional backcountry mileage, and horseback riding, biking, and hiking are allowed on designated trails. Paddlers can float the Little Miami Scenic River from Morgan's Riverside Campground & Cabins, and families using Camp Cedar RV Resort are within one mile of Kings Island and Soak City. For rainy afternoons, the Cincinnati Zoo, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and Fort Ancient earthworks are all within roughly an hour.

Camping runs year-round at several properties but demand is heavily concentrated from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Booking early is advisable, especially for summer weekends and holidays, and premium electric or lake-view sites at Ohio state parks tend to fill first. East Fork State Park remains open during the winter months, though not all campsites are maintained, and Stonelick's campground is also available year-round. Spring brings the wettest stretch of the year, with May typically the peak precipitation month, and rising river levels can affect paddling and low-lying riverside sites. Summer is peak season: warm, humid, and busy at both state park beaches and Camp Cedar's Kings Island-adjacent property. Fall shoulder season is often the sweet spot for RV renters, with cooler nights, thinner crowds, and hardwood color through October. Ohio State Parks host popular themed weekends in October. East Fork typically runs Halloween-themed campouts with decorated sites, trick-or-treating, and costume contests, and these dates tend to book up quickly, so reservations well in advance are recommended.

Expect wooded, family-oriented campgrounds rather than desert-style resort landscapes. East Fork's Class A campground has over 400 pet-friendly campsites, mostly wooded on the north side of the lake, with 376 electric sites and 23 full-hookup sites, plus a 17-site horse camp in Loop A. Every site has a paved or gravel pad, and amenities include a shower house, restrooms, drinking water, a dump station, and a campground boat ramp. Stonelick has 115 campsites, 109 with electricity, and is equipped with showers, flush toilets, a dump station, and laundry facilities. Each site has a paved pad, picnic table, and fire ring, and leashed pets are welcome on designated sites. Camp Cedar RV Resort is a newer, more manicured 53-acre property with pools, cabins, and full-hookup RV sites in back-in and pull-through configurations. Morgan's Riverside is more rustic with direct river access. Grocery, fuel, and dump-station support in Batavia, Mason, and Milford is close by.
