Campgrounds and RV parks near St. Bernard, OH

The Cincinnati Zoo, Cincinnati Museum Center, and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center anchor the in-town itinerary, and Great American Ball Park and Paycor Stadium sit along Smale Riverfront Park downtown. Newport Aquarium is just across the Ohio River in Kentucky. Outside the city, Kings Island in Mason draws coaster fans, and Great Parks of Hamilton County properties like Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater Forest offer lake activities, disc golf, hiking, and boat rentals. Winton Woods sits within a roughly 2,500-acre park system centered on Winton Lake. Within an hour, East Fork State Park offers a large boating lake and miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails, while Cowan Lake and Caesar Creek State Parks add electric-hookup sites and lake beaches.

Late spring through early fall is peak RV season in the Cincinnati area. May brings some of the heaviest rainfall of the year and frequent thunderstorms, while June through August bring warm, humid weather and the highest campground demand around Kings Island and along the Ohio River. Summer weekends and holiday dates fill quickly at both private resorts and county park sites. September and October are the sweet spot for touring: cooler days, lower humidity, and fall foliage across the surrounding state parks. Autumn weekends, especially peak-color dates, book up early at Ohio State Parks, so plan ahead. Winter camping is limited but not impossible. Winton Woods Campground offers winter camping from early December through early March on sites 1-37, which have 30/50-amp electric and sewer hookups. During that stretch the water at the sites is shut off, the dump station and showerhouse are closed, and rigs must be self-contained. Many private parks near the river reduce operations or close entirely between late fall and early spring.

Most Cincinnati-area RV parks offer full hookups with 30 and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer, though tree cover and site spacing vary widely. Camp Cedar has concrete pads with fire pits, two pools, and a shuttle to Kings Island, but the property is newer, so shade is limited and sites sit fairly close together. County parks lean more natural. Winton Woods Campground sits in a pine grove beside Winton Lake, with a mix of full-hookup back-in and pull-through RV sites, tent sites, and basic rustic cabins. It is roughly 20 minutes north of downtown. River-adjacent sites can flood during high water, so check current conditions before arrival in spring. Cell service is generally solid across the metro, and grocery stores, laundromats, and propane are easy to find near most campgrounds.
