Camping near Ringling, Oklahoma
Ringling sits in Jefferson County in south-central Oklahoma, about a half-hour drive west of Interstate 35 and roughly ten miles north of the Red River, which forms the Texas border. The town is small and rural, so most RV travelers use it as a quiet base for exploring the Arbuckle foothills, Waurika Lake, and the larger recreation areas around Lake Murray and Lake Texoma.
Campground choices in the immediate area lean toward independent, family-run RV parks with full hookups, level pull-throughs, and easy highway access. Nearby options include Wilson Christmas Tree Farm and RV Park, Cruisers RV Park, The Veranda Inn, Red River Rose RV Resort, and Cool Breeze RV Cinema and Resort.
For state-run camping with lakefront sites, hiking, and boat ramps, Lake Murray State Park is eight miles south of Ardmore, about a 10-minute drive away, roughly forty-five minutes east of Ringling by road.
Things to do around Ringling
Water recreation drives most trips. Lake Murray State Park consists of 12,500 acres of forested, rolling hills around Lake Murray, and its diverse terrain, exceptional trails and historic sites make it a favorite among outdoor, water sport and ATV enthusiasts. Visitors swim, sail, fish, and paddle, and the lake features 150 miles of shoreline to explore.
The park also has an 18-hole golf course, riding stables, a marina with boat rentals, and miniature golf. Off-road riders head to the park's dedicated ATV campground and trails for motorcycles and dirt bikes.
Anglers fishing Lake Murray target largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, along with channel catfish, white bass, and striped bass. Waurika Lake, closer to Ringling, offers additional shoreline fishing and boat ramps.

Southern Oklahoma has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons and frequent wind. In Ringling, summers are hot and muggy, winters are cold and windy, and over the course of the year the temperature typically varies from 33°F to 96°F and is rarely below 20°F or above 104°F. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV camping, with mild days and cooler nights.
Spring brings the strongest storms. Central and southern Oklahoma sit inside Tornado Alley, and severe thunderstorms with hail and high wind are most common from April through June. Travelers should check forecasts daily and confirm each campground's storm-shelter arrangements before arrival.
Summer weekends see the heaviest demand at Lake Murray and other lake parks, especially around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Campsites can book up fast, especially on summer and holiday weekends, so booking a minimum of three months in advance helps avoid disappointment. Winter is quieter but usable: the state park is open daily for entry 7am to 11pm, with camping available all year, though some smaller loops close seasonally.

Had a great time on our trip and the owners were super responsive
ASHLEY M. - Jun 2023
If I could rate the experience more than 5 star I would. The communication was outstanding. Evan was in constant communication about pickup, checking in on the experience and checkout. We ended up getting upgraded to a different trailer which was fine with us since we didn’t need a toy hauler. Evan came back out twice. The first was because site only had 30 amp and needed an adapter. The second was because we needed propane and couldn’t get the stove to work. That was primary user error but he got it all rectified. The trailer was amazing, clean and had any and all amenities you would want. The renters are also very nice and friendly people. I would definitely rent from them in the future and highly recommend them.

Blake was a great host....the trailer was new and appointed well. All set up with A/C when we arrived. Very easy for us. Could not have asked for more.

How to book a campground near Ringling
Private RV parks near Ringling, including Wilson Christmas Tree Farm and RV Park, Cruisers RV Park, The Veranda Inn, Red River Rose RV Resort, and Cool Breeze RV Cinema and Resort, generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Call ahead in summer to confirm site length, hookup amps, and any pet or check-in restrictions.
For state park sites at Lake Murray, camping reservations are made online at the TravelOK website. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to 11 months in advance. Cancellation policies apply, so review the terms on the reservation portal before booking.
The entrance to Elephant Rock, Cedar Cove, and Tipps Point is a pay entrance with a vehicle entrance fee; check with the park directly for current fees.
What to expect on the ground
Roads around Ringling are a mix of state highways and rural county routes. Most RVs handle them without issue, but fuel and grocery stops are limited in town, so travelers should stock up in Ardmore, Duncan, or Marietta before pulling in.
Private parks in the area tend to be small, quiet, and geared toward longer stays and travelers passing through on I-35 or US-70. Expect full hookups at most, gravel or grass pads, and simple amenities rather than resort-style pools or clubhouses.
At Lake Murray State Park, sites vary widely. Nine RV campgrounds with over 300 RV sites and unlimited tent sites are located throughout the park, with full hookups, restrooms and showers, while smaller loops offer basic hookups or primitive sites. Dogs must be leashed, and cell coverage inside the park can be patchy near the shoreline.

How much does an RV rental in Ringling, OK typically cost?

Pro tip: many owners offer weekly discounts that drop the nightly rate noticeably, perfect for a longer Chickasaw Country adventure.

If you want to skip driving entirely, choose a host who offers delivery and setup. Your host is also reachable for questions about quirks of their specific rig. Save the roadside number to your phone before you leave, screenshot your campground directions, and you will roll into any situation with backup.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Ringling RV rental into Texas or other states?
Yes, interstate travel is part of the magic of an RV road trip from Ringling. The Red River and Texas state line is only about 25 miles south, so weekend runs to Lake Texoma, Dallas-Fort Worth (around 2 hours), or Austin (about 5 hours) are easy and fully allowed. You can also point north to Kansas or east into Arkansas without any issue. The one restriction to know is that travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend across that border. Confirm your planned route with the host through the listing page, especially if you are considering a one-way trip or a multi-state loop.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Ringling RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable on an RV budget, but southern Oklahoma is one of the cheapest regions in the country to fill up. Expect gas prices in Ringling and nearby Waurika to run noticeably below the national average, with diesel a bit higher. Travel trailers towed by a half-ton truck average around 10 to 14 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes deliver about 8 to 12 MPG, and big Class A rigs land around 6 to 9 MPG. A 200-mile loop to Chickasaw National Recreation Area and back typically runs $60 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: top up at the Love's or OnCue stations near I-35 before heading west on US-70.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Ringling?

Weekdays and shoulder-season Sundays are often wide open even a week out. Mileage policies vary by listing, so check the per-day allowance and any overage rate before booking. Pro tip: if you are heading to a Waurika Lake site, ask about a generator add-on, because some loops are primitive and a generator turns any spot into a fully livable basecamp.

Payment for your RV rental in Ringling is handled entirely through RVezy, so there is no cash, no wire transfers, and no surprises. You pay with a credit or debit card on the platform, and the booking total covers the rental, service fees, your chosen protection plan, and any add-ons. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before the trip (not part of the booking payment), then released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, typically within a few days of return. To avoid hiccups, document the RV's condition with photos at pickup and dropoff and review fuel and mileage settings together with your host before driving away.

Some private landowners in Jefferson County allow overnight RV stays through host arrangements, and several travel centers along I-35 near Ardmore (about 30 miles east) permit overnight RV parking for travelers passing through. For longer stays, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks at Waurika Lake offer affordable nightly sites with hookups just 25 miles west of town. Insider tip: pair your stay with a meal in town to soak up the small-town charm of Chickasaw Country.
