Campgrounds and RV parks near Ellsworth, PA

Ellsworth sits in Washington County in southwestern Pennsylvania, about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh and a short drive from Interstates 70 and 79. The location works well for RV travelers using the region as a base for Pittsburgh day trips, Laurel Highlands excursions, or a stopover along the I-70 corridor between the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic. Campground options near town lean toward small private parks and highway-adjacent stops. Nearby KOA campgrounds include the Washington / Pittsburgh SW KOA Journey and the Madison/Pittsburgh SE KOA Journey, both within reasonable driving range. Firehouse RV Campgrounds and Wallace Trailer Sales and Court serve travelers looking for simpler, closer-in sites, while The Blue Canoe RV Resort offers a resort-style alternative in the wider region. The terrain is rolling farmland and wooded hills cut by the Monongahela River valley. Roads are generally paved and manageable for larger rigs, though back-country routes can be narrow and hilly, so GPS routing should be checked against campground-provided directions.

Private campgrounds around Ellsworth take reservations directly. KOA properties, including the Washington / Pittsburgh SW KOA Journey and the Madison/Pittsburgh SE KOA Journey, book through the KOA website or app, with rewards-member early access on some dates. Smaller parks such as Firehouse RV Campgrounds and Wallace Trailer Sales and Court are best reached by phone to confirm hookups and rig-length limits. Pennsylvania state park campgrounds in the wider region are booked through the state's reservation portal, which opens a rolling window up to eleven months in advance. Popular loops for summer weekends should be reserved as early as the window allows. For peak weekends, sites should be secured well ahead as spots fill up quickly. Midweek arrivals often find same-week availability even in summer.
