Campgrounds and RV parks near North East, PA

North East sits on the Lake Erie shoreline in the far northwest corner of Pennsylvania, roughly fifteen miles east of the city of Erie and close to the New York state line. It anchors Pennsylvania's grape belt and wine country, with a mix of lakeside, creekside, and inland RV parks within a short drive. The terrain shifts from lake plains along the shore up to the foothills of the Allegheny Plateau, giving campers a mix of beach, orchard, and wooded settings. Private campgrounds handle most overnight RV traffic in the immediate area. Family Affair Campground and Paradise Bay Park Family Campground focus on longer family stays, Brookside Beach Campground trades on its lake access, and Bison Trace Luxury Camping runs glamping-style cabins, safari tents, and covered wagons on French Creek just across the New York line. Lampe Marina Campground, on the Erie bayfront, gives boaters and anglers direct access to Presque Isle Bay. Pennsylvania's flagship Lake Erie site, Presque Isle State Park, is day-use only, so overnight RVers stage from private grounds nearby.

Pennsylvania state parks use the state ReserveAmerica portal and open reservations up to 11 months in advance, with new dates released at noon Eastern Time. That long window matters for summer weekends at popular lakeside parks, though note that Presque Isle State Park itself is day-use only, with no overnight camping inside park boundaries. Private grounds around North East, including Family Affair Campground, Paradise Bay Park Family Campground, Brookside Beach Campground, and Lampe Marina Campground, book directly through the campground. Bison Trace Luxury Camping takes cabin, safari-tent, and covered-wagon bookings on its own site. For any July or August weekend, book several weeks out at minimum. Bringing firewood into Pennsylvania from out of state is discouraged; buy local firewood and burn it before leaving.
