Rhode Island is compact, so RV travelers can base out of nearly any campground and reach the coast, Narragansett Bay, or inland forests within an hour. The Rhode Island DEM partners with ReserveAmerica for state campground reservations, and the state has five state campgrounds open to the public. Five campgrounds anchor most RV trips. Burlingame State Campground sits next to Watchaug Pond in Charlestown and features roughly 700 rustic campsites plus 20 cabins, with restrooms and showers, a playground, arcade, freshwater beach, boat ramp, canoe rentals, and hiking trails, though utilities are not available at the sites. Fishermen's Memorial State Park is a 91-acre seaside campground on Point Judith in Narragansett with 182 sites across four areas, including full-hookup loops. Charlestown Breachway State Campground sits along the breachway with ocean views and saltwater fishing, walking distance from a lifeguarded beach, and accommodates 75 self-contained RVs with no tents or pop-ups. Inland, George Washington State Campground in Chepachet and Holiday Acres Campground in Glocester round out the popular options. George Washington sits within the 4,000-acre George Washington Management Area on the shores of Bowdish Reservoir, with gravel sites suited to trailers and RVs plus hike-in tent sites and a handful of cabins. Holiday Acres in Glocester is a private park about 30 minutes from Providence offering RV sites with hookups, laundry facilities, and a playground.

Rhode Island has five state campgrounds and partners with ReserveAmerica for online reservations, with bookings accepted up to 12 months in advance of the arrival date. Online reservations can be made 24 hours a day. For phone bookings, the ReserveAmerica call center can be reached at 1-877-742-2675. Customers wishing to book the day of arrival must reserve directly at the park on a first-come, first-served basis; sites cannot be reserved over the phone or held in advance of arrival. For Burlingame, Fishermen's Memorial, and George Washington, summer weekends should be booked months ahead. Charlestown Breachway accepts only self-contained RVs, so confirm your rig meets that requirement before booking. Private campgrounds such as Holiday Acres handle their own bookings directly through their own websites or phone lines. Popular campgrounds can fill quickly during peak season, so secure dates before locking in an RV rental.
