Campgrounds and RV parks near Capitol View, SC

Capitol View is a neighborhood on the southwest side of Columbia, South Carolina, placing RV travelers within reach of the state capital, the Congaree River, and the Sandhills region. The area sits at the crossroads of Interstates 20, 26, and 77, so approach routes from Charlotte, Charleston, Atlanta, and the Blue Ridge all funnel through nearby. Campground options range from a wooded state park to full-hookup private resorts built for larger rigs. Sesquicentennial State Park anchors the public side, covering 1,419 acres in Columbia's Sandhills region, just 12 miles from downtown Columbia, with a shaded loop-style campground. Private options in the wider Columbia and Camden corridor include Big Rig Friendly RV Resort, Barnyard RV Park, Columbia / Camden RV Park, and Sweetwater Lake Campground, giving travelers a mix of pull-through sites, waterfront pads, and rural quiet within a short drive of the city. Most parks stay open year-round, though loop closures and reduced services are common in the coldest and hottest weeks.

State park sites use the South Carolina State Parks reservation system. Reservations are available through South Carolina State Parks with a minimum two-night stay and 14-day maximum consecutive stay. Weekends in spring and fall book out weeks ahead, and holiday weekends fill fastest. Private parks such as Big Rig Friendly RV Resort, Barnyard RV Park, Columbia / Camden RV Park, and Sweetwater Lake Campground handle reservations through their own websites or by phone. Travelers should confirm rig length, slide-out clearance, and hookup amperage at booking, since site dimensions vary widely across the Columbia area.
