Campgrounds near Catawba, South Carolina
Catawba sits in Lancaster County along the South Carolina and North Carolina border, roughly midway between Rock Hill and Lancaster and about a half hour south of Charlotte. The location gives RV travelers access to Lake Wylie shoreline, the Catawba River corridor, and the metro Charlotte attraction cluster while staying in a quieter rural setting.
The closest state park is Andrew Jackson State Park, a 360-acre park in Lancaster County built around a small fishing lake and dedicated to the seventh U.S. president. County and private options include Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie, Crown Cove RV Park, and Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA Journey, plus Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort adjacent to the amusement park on the state line.
Most sites in the area accept RVs with electric and water hookups, and several offer full hookups. Reservation systems vary by operator: South Carolina State Parks uses a central booking site, York County parks book through Campspot, and the KOA and Carowinds properties book directly through their own brands.
Things to do near Catawba
Lake Wylie is the dominant outdoor draw. Ebenezer Park has three boat ramps, a semicircular fishing pier, a designated swim area, and a kayak and canoe launch, plus a pickleball court, a beach volleyball court, walking trails, and a playground.
Andrew Jackson State Park offers hiking, an 18-acre fishing lake stocked with bass, bream, and catfish, a museum on Andrew Jackson's boyhood, a replica one-room schoolhouse, and an equestrian statue by sculptor Anna Hyatt Huntington. Living history programs run on select weekends.
For bigger attractions, Carowinds amusement park sits on the North Carolina line with a waterpark and Camp Snoopy alongside its ride lineup. Uptown Charlotte, the U.S. National Whitewater Center, and Rock Hill's Riverwalk district are all short drives from Catawba.

The Piedmont climate here is humid subtropical with four distinct seasons. Spring and fall are the most comfortable stretches for RV camping, with mild days, cool nights, and lower humidity. Wildflowers and dogwoods peak in April, and fall color moves through the hardwoods from late October into mid November.
Summer runs hot and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms common from June through August. Shaded sites and 50-amp service to run air conditioning are worth prioritizing. Lake Wylie stays busy on summer weekends, and holiday periods around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out early at Ebenezer Park and Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort.
Winter is cool but rarely severe. Andrew Jackson State Park and Ebenezer Park operate year-round, and off-season rates at private campgrounds tend to drop noticeably once Carowinds closes for the winter. Snow is uncommon and typically light when it does fall.

This was our second time renting from Matt and Shannon, and once again everything was smooth from start to finish. Their RV made our weekend at the Ebony Horsemen Rodeo comfortable and stress-free. Can't wait to book with them again for next year's event!
Maisha P. - Aug 2026
Here’s a polished rewrite of your review: --- Matt was an outstanding host. He was flexible when I needed to adjust both the drop-off location and the rental dates for the RV. He personally met me to hand over the RV, walked me through how to use the equipment, and made sure I felt comfortable. Throughout the process, he was attentive and responsive to my concerns, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable.

How to book campgrounds near Catawba
Andrew Jackson State Park takes reservations through reserve.southcarolinaparks.com or by phone at 1-866-345-PARK. A two-night minimum applies for advance reservations, and the maximum consecutive stay is 14 nights, with a required 7-day break before returning. Campers are limited to one RV plus one tent, or two tents, per site, and to two passenger vehicles.
Ebenezer Park books through the York County parks system on Campspot, with reservations available up to 13 months in advance. The park is open 365 days a year with a 14-night stay cap, and RVs must fit entirely on the concrete pad at each site; overflow vehicles are directed to the day-use lot.
Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort books directly through the Carowinds website. Crown Cove RV Park and Charlotte / Fort Mill KOA Journey also take direct bookings; summer weekends and Carowinds event dates fill first.
What to expect on arrival
Site surfaces vary. Andrew Jackson State Park has five paved sites that accommodate RVs up to 36 feet and 20 gravel sites suited for units up to 30 feet, with water and 30-amp electric at most sites and full hookups at three. Ebenezer Park offers 79 full-hookup RV sites with 50/30/20-amp service on concrete pads, plus five tent sites; RVs may not park on the grass.
Expect hot showers and dump stations at the state and county parks, and full-service amenities including pools, camp stores, and laundry at Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort and the KOA. Cell coverage is generally strong across the area given the proximity to Charlotte.
Pets are allowed at most sites on a leash. Quiet hours are enforced at the county park, and golf carts require a permit at South Carolina state parks.

South Carolina does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for personal recreational vehicles. Anne Springs Close Greenway in nearby Fort Mill also welcomes leashed dogs across its 2,100+ acres. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees and rules so your whole crew is set for the trip.
yorkcountygov.com/1093/Ebenezer-ParkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Catawba?
Yes, RV delivery in Catawba is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-timers. Many local hosts will tow the trailer to your campground, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system before they leave. That is a game-changer if you are nervous about backing into a tight site at Ebenezer Park or Landsford Canal State Park. Filter by Delivery on the search page to see hosts offering this service, then message them with your campground address for an exact quote. Delivery fees typically scale with distance, so choosing a campsite within about 30 miles of Catawba helps keep costs down.

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to RV camping in Catawba. Top picks include Ebenezer Park on Lake Wylie (67 wooded sites with full hookups, a swim area, and boat ramps, about 15 minutes north), Landsford Canal State Park (a quieter riverside option famous for its spider lilies in May, 30 minutes south), Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort just over the NC line (great for theme park trips), and Lake Wateree State Park (about an hour south with lakefront sites). For a more secluded vibe, try Forty Acre Rock area in nearby Lancaster County. Book South Carolina state park sites through the official reservation portal up to 13 months in advance.
southcarolinaparks.com/landsford-canalWhen is the best time to visit Catawba for an RV trip?
Catawba is a true three-and-a-half-season RV destination thanks to the mild Piedmont climate. Spring (mid-March through May) is the sweet spot, with highs in the 65 to 80 degree range and the famous rocky shoals spider lilies blooming at Landsford Canal in mid-May. Fall (late September through early November) brings crisp 60 to 75 degree days and gorgeous color along the Catawba River. Summers are warm and humid (highs 87 to 92 degrees), making AC and shaded sites at Ebenezer Park a must. Winters are gentle with daytime highs in the low 50s, so RV camping in Catawba is genuinely a year-round option. Local insider tip: aim for the Come-See-Me Festival in Rock Hill each April.
weather.gov/gsp/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Catawba?
You've got this, even if it's your first time renting an RV. Catawba sits in a relatively flat, low-traffic part of York County, and most roads around Rock Hill and Lake Wylie are wide and easy for beginners. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, hookups, and the propane system. They're a text away during your trip if questions come up. If you'd rather skip the drive entirely, book a travel trailer with delivery so the host parks it for you. Pro tip: do a slow practice loop in a quiet parking lot like the one at Rock Hill Galleria before heading out.
scdmvonline.com/Driver-Services/Drivers-ManualsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're never alone on the road. Every RV rental in Catawba booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance, so if you get a flat tire on I-77, run into battery trouble at your campsite, or need a tow back from Landsford Canal State Park, help is one phone call away. Your host is also a direct line for anything system-related, like questions about the awning or water heater. And RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip to back you up. That layered support is why so many first-time renters feel confident hitting the road around Rock Hill and Lake Wylie.
scdps.sc.gov/schpCan I take my RV across state lines from Catawba?
Yes, interstate RV travel from Catawba is common and welcomed by most RVezy hosts, since Charlotte, NC is just about 30 miles up I-77. Popular RV road trips from Catawba include the Blue Ridge Parkway through North Carolina (about 2 hours to the Asheville entrance), the Outer Banks (roughly 6 hours east), and Savannah, GA (about 4 hours south). Travel into Canada may be allowed with the host's written approval and proper documentation, so message them first. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection do not extend across that border. Confirm your route with the host before booking and you are good to roll.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Catawba RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest variables, but it's easy to plan for. Travel trailers don't burn extra gas beyond what your tow vehicle uses (typically 10 to 14 mpg towing). Campervan rental Catawba options like Class B vans get around 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A rigs run about 7 to 10 mpg. South Carolina gas prices typically sit below the national average, often 20 to 40 cents per gallon cheaper than neighboring states, so fill up before crossing into North Carolina. A weekend loop around Lake Wylie and Rock Hill in a Class C usually costs $60 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: the QuikTrip on Cherry Road is a reliable, RV-friendly fill-up spot.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Catawba?
Booking early pays off. South Carolina state parks like Landsford Canal and Lake Wateree accept reservations up to 13 months in advance through the official South Carolina State Parks portal, and waterfront sites at Ebenezer Park (York County) often fill 3 to 6 months out for summer weekends. For shoulder-season trips in March, April, October, or November, you can usually snag a site 2 to 4 weeks ahead. Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day) require the most advance planning. If you are flexible, midweek arrivals at Ebenezer Park are much easier to book and the lake is noticeably quieter for an early morning paddle.
southcarolinaparks.com/reservationsWhat are local driving conditions like around Catawba?
Driving conditions around Catawba are friendly to RVers. The terrain is gently rolling Piedmont (no mountain passes), and major routes like I-77, US-21, and SC-9 are well-maintained with generous shoulders. Rush hour into Charlotte on I-77 northbound can get sticky between 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6:30 p.m., so plan departures around that. Summer afternoon thunderstorms pop up quickly from June through August, so check radar before hitting the road. Watch for low-clearance bridges in downtown Rock Hill if you're driving a tall Class A, and stick to truck-friendly routes near Cherry Road and Dave Lyle Boulevard. Local tip: the SC 51 / Highway 5 corridor through Catawba is scenic and quiet.
511sc.org/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Catawba?
Campgrounds near Catawba are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Ebenezer Park offers 67 sites with water and 50-amp electric hookups, a dump station, hot showers, and lakefront swim access. Landsford Canal State Park has more rustic RV-friendly sites with water and electric but no sewer, plus a centrally located dump station. Most private parks in the Rock Hill area offer full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp), Wi-Fi, and laundry. Pro tip: fill your fresh water tank before leaving Catawba so you've got flexibility wherever you camp.
yorkcountygov.com/1093/Ebenezer-ParkWhat features and amenities come with most RV rentals in Catawba?

Most motorhome rental Catawba options include a queen or full bed, kitchen with fridge, microwave, propane stove, indoor bathroom with toilet and shower, dinette that converts to a bed, roof AC, furnace, and outdoor awning. Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and some offer onboard generators or Wi-Fi hotspots (sometimes as an add-on). Class C and Class A rigs include seatbelts for travel passengers, perfect for a family RV trip in Catawba. Check each listing's amenities section to match your must-haves, whether that's a king bed for two or bunks for the kids. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps to quickly find the right size.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/recreational-vehicle-safetyWhat add-ons and extras can I get with my Catawba RV rental?
Hosts offer lots of helpful add-ons to customize your trip. Common ones for RV rental in South Carolina include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits with pots and dishes ($25 to $50), camp chairs and outdoor mats, portable grills, bike racks, generators, and pet packages. Delivery and setup is the most popular add-on around Catawba, with fees typically ranging from $2 to $5 per mile from the host's location. Pickup and dropoff is usually at the host's address, and many will meet you at Ebenezer Park or nearby campgrounds for an extra fee. Mileage policies vary by host, so check the listing details before booking. Pro tip: bundle add-ons in one message to the host for the smoothest experience.
fmcsa.dot.gov/registration/commercial-drivers-license/recreational-vehiclesHow do payments and security deposits work on RVezy?
Payments are straightforward and secure. When you book your Catawba RV rental, RVezy charges your card for the rental total through the platform, so there is no cash exchange with the host at pickup. A refundable security deposit is held separately and released back to you after the trip, typically within a few days, assuming the RV is returned in the same condition. The deposit amount is shown on each listing before you book. To protect your deposit, do a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff (your host will too), keep tanks at the levels the host specifies, and refuel before returning.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhere can I park an RV overnight in Catawba besides a campground?
You've got a few solid options beyond campgrounds. In South Carolina, many Walmart locations allow overnight RV parking with manager permission, and the Walmart Supercenter on Cherry Road in Rock Hill has historically been RV-friendly (always call ahead to confirm). Cracker Barrel on Dave Lyle Boulevard typically welcomes one-night stays for diners. For dispersed camping, Sumter National Forest is a couple hours west if you want truly free boondocking. Within Catawba and Rock Hill city limits, overnight parking on residential streets is restricted, so stick to approved lots or campgrounds like Ebenezer Park. Pro tip: download an app like iOverlander to confirm current rules and find where to park an RV in Catawba on travel days.
