Campgrounds and RV parks near Cayce, SC

Cayce sits on the west bank of the Congaree River across from downtown Columbia, at the junction of I-26 and I-77. That location makes it a practical base for RV travelers exploring the South Carolina Midlands, with quick access to Congaree National Park, three interstates, and the state capital. The area mixes full-hookup private RV parks with a nearby state park campground. Big Rig Friendly RV Resort and Barnyard RV Park handle larger rigs with paved or concrete pads, sewer, and pull-through sites, while Woodsmoke Campground and Mr Zs RV Park round out the private options near the city. For a more wooded, park-style stay, Sesquicentennial State Park sits about 20 minutes northeast in a pine forest of roughly 1,400 acres inside the Columbia metro area. Congaree National Park is a short drive southeast, though its Longleaf and Bluff campgrounds are tent-only walk-in sites with no RV or vehicle access at the campsite, so RV travelers typically stay in Cayce or Lexington and day-trip in.

Sesquicentennial State Park takes reservations through the South Carolina State Parks system up to 13 months in advance, with a two-night minimum and a 14-day maximum consecutive stay. Loop 2 stays open year-round, while Loop 1 closes seasonally. Same-day bookings must be made directly with the park. Private parks including Big Rig Friendly RV Resort, Barnyard RV Park, Woodsmoke Campground, and Mr Zs RV Park take reservations by phone or through their own websites and third-party platforms. These parks generally offer more flexibility on stay length than the state park. Congaree National Park's Longleaf and Bluff campgrounds are booked through Recreation.gov up to six months out, but both are tent-only walk-in sites and do not accept RVs or vehicles at the campsite.
