Camping near Dentsville, South Carolina
Dentsville is an unincorporated community in Richland County, immediately northeast of Columbia and within the Columbia metro area. For RV travelers, it functions as a convenient base: Interstate 20, Interstate 77, and Two Notch Road (US-1) all cross within a few miles, and downtown Columbia sits roughly a fifteen-minute drive to the southwest.
The closest campground is Sesquicentennial State Park, set within roughly 1,400 acres of pine forest at 9564 Two Notch Road in Columbia, only a few minutes from Dentsville itself. Additional RV-focused options within a short drive include Big Rig Friendly RV Resort, Barnyard RV Park, and Columbia / Camden RV Park, all of which serve travelers using the I-20 corridor.
For a quieter, more rural setting, Broad River Campground sits north of the city near Winnsboro, on SC Highway 215. It is roughly twenty minutes from Columbia, Irmo, and Chapin, and works well as an overnight stop or a longer stay for guests exploring the Broad River area.
Things to do near Dentsville
Sesquicentennial State Park is the primary outdoor draw within the immediate area. The park features a 30-acre lake for fishing and non-motorized boating, miles of hiking and biking trails, and a splash pad and dog park that make it practical for families traveling with kids or pets.
Congaree National Park lies about twenty miles south. The park protects one of the largest intact expanses of old-growth bottomland hardwood forest in the southeastern United States, with a boardwalk loop, paddling on Cedar Creek, and, in late spring, synchronous fireflies during a short viewing window.
Downtown Columbia adds the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden, the South Carolina State Museum, the Congaree and Broad rivers for paddling, and the University of South Carolina campus, all within a short drive from Dentsville.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV camping in the Dentsville area. Days are warm, humidity is manageable, and mosquito pressure is lower than in midsummer. These shoulder seasons are ideal for outdoor activities, though campgrounds can fill quickly on weekends and holidays, so booking early is important.
Summer is hot and humid, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms and heavy mosquito pressure in the Congaree floodplain. RV parks with full hookups and shade, such as Broad River Campground and Barnyard RV Park, are more workable in that stretch than tent sites in the bottomland forest.
Winter is mild by national standards but variable, with freezing nights common. From late winter through early spring, the Congaree River floods on average about ten times per year, with trails underwater and paddling extremely difficult during flood events. Check current conditions on the National Park Service page before visiting Congaree in that window.

How to book campgrounds near Dentsville
Sesquicentennial State Park is reserved through the South Carolina State Parks system, online or by calling 1-866-345-PARK. Reservations may be made up to 13 months in advance, and any reservation requested less than one day before check-in must be made directly through the park. Camping reservations require a minimum stay of two nights and are limited to a maximum of 14 consecutive nights, with a minimum 7-night vacancy period between reservations.
Congaree National Park's Longleaf Campground is booked through Recreation.gov up to six months in advance. It is a walk-in, tent-only campground with individual and group sites, and group sites require a minimum of 9 campers and allow up to 24. RV and car camping are not permitted within the park.
Private parks including Big Rig Friendly RV Resort, Barnyard RV Park, Columbia / Camden RV Park, and Broad River Campground take reservations directly through their websites or by phone, often with weekly and monthly rates available.
What to expect on arrival
At Sesquicentennial State Park, expect a wooded, family-oriented campground with 84 sites arranged in two loops. Most sites have water and 20/30 amp electric, and a smaller group of full-hookup sites with sewer is available. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground has modern restrooms, hot showers, and a dump station.
Congaree's Longleaf Campground is primitive. Running water is not available at the campground, though potable water is available 24/7 at the Harry Hampton Visitor Center, and vehicles must remain in the parking lot while campers walk a short distance to their sites.
Private RV parks in the area tend to lean utilitarian rather than resort-style, with full hookups, laundry, Wi-Fi, and shaded pull-through or back-in sites. Firewood should be sourced locally: South Carolina State Parks require firewood to come from within the state and from less than 50 miles away to limit invasive pests.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Dentsville RV rental across state lines or into Canada or Mexico?

Travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and the insurance attached to the listing, so message the host directly before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance and protection coverage do not extend there.
