Heath Springs camping overview
Heath Springs sits in Lancaster County in the South Carolina Midlands, roughly halfway between Charlotte and Columbia. The area is rural and rolling, with piedmont forest, farmland, and access to the Catawba and Wateree river systems. RV travelers use it as a quiet base for lake fishing, small-town history, and outdoor recreation without the crowds of the coast.
The closest full-service option is Andrew Jackson State Park in Lancaster County, one of the S.C. State Park Service's most popular attractions and the only park in the system dedicated to a U.S. president, with a museum on the boyhood of Andrew Jackson. Farther southwest, Lake Wateree State Park sits on Desportes Island and offers a large campground, an on-site tackle shop with a public boat ramp and refueling dock, and a mile-long nature trail.
For travelers who want private-park amenities, Columbia / Camden RV Park in Lugoff, The Farm Campground, and Crown Cove RV Park round out the options within a reasonable drive.
Things to do around Heath Springs
Water activities dominate. Lake Wateree holds significant populations of crappie, bream, largemouth bass, catfish and striped bass, and the lake hosts numerous fishing tournaments throughout the year. Andrew Jackson State Park adds a smaller option: an 18-acre lake with a boat launch, plus fishing, canoeing and kayaking along the wooded shoreline. Boat rentals are available at the park.
History travelers have plenty to fill a day. Andrew Jackson State Park features a museum on the boyhood of the seventh president, an equestrian statue of Old Hickory sculpted by Anna Hyatt Huntington, a replica late 18th-century one-room schoolhouse, an amphitheatre, an herb garden, and nature trails. Landsford Canal State Park, a short drive north, is a popular day trip for its river-shoals spider lily bloom in late spring.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV camping in this part of South Carolina. Temperatures are mild, humidity is manageable, and the Midlands typically avoids the wettest coastal patterns. March and April can bring heavier rain events, but nights stay comfortable for hookup camping. The Landsford Canal spider lily bloom peaks in mid to late May.
Summer is hot and humid, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. Lake sites at Lake Wateree book well ahead for holiday weekends. Sites in the original Riverside loop are shaded, while sites in the newer Taylor Creek loop are exposed to the sun with little tree shade, which matters in July and August.
Winter camping is viable. Both Andrew Jackson and Lake Wateree state parks are open year round, and hard freezes are short and infrequent. Tropical systems occasionally track inland from the Atlantic in late summer and early fall, so check forecasts before extended stays.

Super easy booking and Jeremy was very responsive to all my questions as a first time rv renter. It was all very smooth and super convenient with the delivery option. They were there and set up before we even arrived. The camper was also super nice with a lot of upgraded features. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others!!
