Campgrounds and RV parks near Scranton, SC

Scranton is a small town in Florence County in South Carolina's Pee Dee region, roughly halfway between Interstate 95 and the Grand Strand coast. The area is flat, rural, and lightly developed, which keeps campground traffic modest compared with the Myrtle Beach corridor about an hour to the east. Many RV travelers use Scranton as a quiet base for exploring Lake City, Florence, and the blackwater rivers and cypress swamps of the Pee Dee. The closest full-service option is CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB in nearby Lake City, which offers concrete pads with 30 and 50 amp service, full hookups, and Wi-Fi. Nowhere Campground and RV Park sits south of Scranton toward Kingstree and leans rural, with electrical hookups and primitive tent sites. Big Cypress Lake RV Park and Fishing Retreat, southeast toward Conway, is built around a private spring-fed fishing lake. For state-run camping, Lee State Park lies northwest along the Lynches River with water and electric sites and equestrian facilities. Standing Pines, north toward Hartsville, rounds out the list with a family-focused RV park layout.

South Carolina State Parks handles all Lee State Park reservations through its central system at southcarolinaparks.com or by phone at 1-866-345-PARK. Campsites can be booked up to 13 months in advance, a two-night minimum applies, and reservations requested less than one day before check-in must be made directly through the park office. Standard check-in is 2 p.m. Private parks book directly. CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB, Nowhere Campground and RV Park, Big Cypress Lake RV Park and Fishing Retreat, and Standing Pines each take reservations by phone or through their own websites and third-party platforms. For spring festival weekends in Lake City and holiday weekends in summer, book several weeks out. Winter snowbird months fill Big Cypress Lake and similar parks with long-stay guests, so monthly sites should be locked in even earlier.
